Yay cute little one-shot. I hope you enjoy. Reviews are appreaciated! I don't own How to Rock.
Zander's POV
Today was the day. The day I was going to give her the ring and ask her a question not most eighteen year olds do these days. No, I'm not proposing to her for marriage we are still kids. I was going to give her a promise ring. Things in my future aren't completely planned out but I know I want her in it. We have been in an on again off again relationship for about three years now. But, these last six months have been on again for the whole time. I've never felt what I feel about to Stevie, to anyone. I know she's the one. I see her coming down to meet me; I decide a walk in the park is appropriate for this occasion that's if she says yes. I hope she does.
"Where are we going?" She asks interlocking my hand with hers.
"You'll see." I reply looking at the ground as we continue our route.
"Are you okay?" she asks feeling my forehead, "Something seems wrong?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I say, flashing a smile.
We finally arrive at the park and for about an hour we just have fun and enjoy ourselves. We play on the swings, go down the slides and even use the monkey bars although we are a little too tall for them. But, as we sit down on the bench on the side of the park I realize it's the perfect time to ask her.
"Stevie?"
"Hmm?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure anything." She says smiling at me sweetly.
I take a deep breath and reach for the box with the ring in it in my jacket pocket. When she sees it she looks confused. I open the box to reveal a small silver band with her birthstone on it.
"Stevie, will you go steady with me?"
Her expression is unreadable. The next thing I know she's bursted out laughing. I mentally kick myself for doing something so stupid. She probably thinks I'm a fool. I close the small black velvet box and unzip my pocket to put it back in.
"Wait, wait!" she starts trying to contain her laughter, "Did you just say go steady with me?"
I look at her confused and nod.
She still can't help but giggle. "Zander, who says that?"
I chuckle. Oh she just thought it was funny.
"I understand you still love Andy, its okay I'm sure I'll get over it." I joke putting the ring away. Now she can't contain her laughter anymore and she full on laughs, and somewhere along the way I seem to have joined in. Suddenly, she stops.
"Yes." She states simply.
"Yes what?" I ask confused.
"Yes, I'll go steady with you."
I can't hold in my joy, I pick her up and spin her around hugging her.
"Really?" I question.
"Yeah, even though I kind of thought we were already going steady."
"I had to formally ask you." I say nerdily.
"I love you." She whispers into my ear as we lean in and kiss each other.
"I love you too." I say looking into her eyes, because I really mean it, "Now, Stevana Rena Baskara will you put this ring on as a sign of going steady?" I ask her pulling the ring back out of my pocket.
"Her facial expression softens, "Of course." I take her left hand index finger and slide the ring down it.
"Do you like it?"
"It's beautiful."
"Just like you." I say intertwining her other hand with mine so we could walk back.
"If we are going steady you have to ease up on the cheesy lines." She starts.
"Yes, dear."
