"Oh psh, who cares about ancient whatevers they were, the weather is perfect as usual and youre stuck in this depressing passageway reading up about some stuff that no one cares about!!" Koula the Bruin norn sat squarely on top of her friend's books. Arch moved closer to try and shift her but when he saw the familiar defaint glow of her purple eyes he decided against it. "Kouls, how do I put this - while you're out there playing sports with the other norns I am studying. I want to be the leader of the norn tribe when I get older – norns don't just get elected for nothing you know." Koula pulled a face. "You never go out anymore..." she fingered his light orange fur. "Even your stripes are fading." She looked remorseful at having pointed out his deterioration.
He was acutely aware of the fact that he did not look as healthy as the other male norns – he was indeed more faded from being indoors all the time in the dust surrounded by shelved books. The only consolation at this point was that he was probably far more intellectual than they were. He sighed, feeling defeated. Koula never gave up on anything – for which he was grateful at times otherwise he would have been virtually friendless by now – but sometimes she took her perseverance too far. He squatted opposite her. "If you love something let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours. If it doesn't..." she chipped in : "Then you hunt it down and take revenge." And with that she slid off the low table and marched out of the hallway into the lift leading to the norn garden.
