The Ox and The Horse: A Nona and Horn Story

As the last Orc died on Nona's sword, she looked up to see Arannawen looking at her with an odd, almost mischievous, expression. Before Nona could ask what the Hunter was up to, the she-elf had informed the other elf and the elderly Horse-lord that the three of them would escort the workers back to Aldburg, and Horn and Nona would clean up. She claimed it was because someone needed to make sure there were no more Orcs, but Nona knew better. Her friend was giving her an opportunity to be alone with Horn. It was clear that she had fooled no one. Corudan was looking at Arannawen with a raised eyebrow, but when Arannawen raised one in return, he left. Gléowine, meanwhile, smirked and winked at Horn, who flushed. Then Arannawen was all but shoving him out of the cave, and she was alone. With Horn. Nona glanced at him to find him looking at her with an oddly intent expression on face. He reached out to take her hand, seeming almost shy about it. She smiled at him, encouraging, and then all at once he stepped closer and raised his other hand to her face, before freezing and looking guilty, like he was afraid he was rushing her. Another smile, and then he was kissing her, and she was kissing him back and the world had shrunk to just her and Horn, and nothing else mattered. One hand had gone to the small of her back, and the other was tangling in her hair, as her hands crept up his back to his shoulders, to hold him to her. When they finally broke apart for air, Horn smiled at her, and when he saw her face, the smile changed from a shy, uncertain one, to one of pure joy. She pulled his head back down and kissed him again, silently thanking her friend for giving them this chance to be alone. When they made it back to Aldburg, Arannawen took one look at them, before raising her arms to the sky and exclaiming "Finally! If you two took any longer, I was considering locking you in a room somewhere!" Gléowine and Corudan laughed as Horn flushed and Nona glared. Arannawen draped an arm around her and said "Not really, but the tension between you two was so thick I could have cut it with a knife." That only made Gléowine laugh harder, so after grinning at Arannawen to show she wasn't really mad, Nona transferred her glare to Gléowine. "Horn, my boy, I hope you know what you are getting into! This one's a spitfire!" exclaimed the bard, clapping Horn on the back. Nona glared harder and the elderly Horse-lord grinned and led Horn away, with Corudan following. Arannawen promptly turned to her and demanded, "Tell me everything!"

Author's Note: Since I find these two utterly adorable, I went on a search for fanfic of them. To my horror there was none! When I complained about to my Kinship about the lack of Horn/Nona fics, they told me to write one myself. I hemmed and hawed, but finally gave in and wrote this.

Authors Note 2: 'Arannawen' is my Female Elf Hunter that I play on the Gladden server..
