AN: This little one-shot rant came since it is the end of the season and I have to give back my baritone. My friend said that I should give my baritone to some new freshman girl next year and well after some ranting to myself this is what you get.
Dear New Female Baritone,
Congratulations you decided to join the ranks of marching band. This letter will hopefully help explain some thing. Ok it's not going to give you the secret to marching perfectly and it's not going to show you how to be the most popular person in the band. This is what I think is important and what you really need to know.
This baritone was mine last year and I think if you can make it though with this you will truly be a baritone. As you have probably already noticed the section is mostly boys. This is why I'm writing to you. We girls need to stick together and anyways its not like a boy would actually read this. You're going to have to prove yourself to these boys. If they want to be stubborn and hold there instruments up for more than needed you do it because you're just as strong as them. It is as simple as that.
This year is going to be hard. I am telling you now and you better be up to the challenge. You arms will kill you after a few seconds of holding this huge thing oh and did I mention you will have to do circles of pain. You'll get sunburn and you mind will explode from trying to remember everything, but you know its all worth it.
The baritone you now hold is so much like this section. Sometimes it will do something really stupid and you will want to strangle it and will wonder how you got into this. At least once it will hurt you in some way when it doesn't mean, but your find a way to forgive it. It will also bring tons of happiness when you finally play that feature right and hold it up with out your arms hurting. You will come to appreciate all the stupid things is does as funny and cute. Hopefully you will come to cherish your baritone and be sad when you have to give it back. Just like your new family.
Yes we are a rather odd group and some boy things we will never quite understand though they are probably best left like that. Remember to cherish every moment with your new family because even though sometimes you hate them you just can't help but love them. Every year some of your family will leave to go off on there own and we will get new freshmen. Hopefully you thought this somewhat helpful and maybe you will give this to some other freshman girl when you're a sophomore and will continue the legacy of the baritone.
Sincerely,
Female Baritone
