Kagome sat there on her bed staring at the floor of the hut her friends had built her. It was just the right size for one person. A fire pit in the middle, storage space for all her belongings, and room enough to fold out her sleeping mat. The hut had two windows; one at the front of the hut beside the door looking at the road and fields in front of it and the other window was on the side so that you could see anyone about to enter the village since her hut was at the edge of the village, only 50ft at least from Sango and Miroku.
"Kagome... I'm sorry.."
That was all he had said to her when her heart shattered into a million pieces. Or that's all she would allow him to say before he could try to comfort her with empty words. The last three years without him and her friends had been more than she could stand. She thought she would come back and live her life here and this hut her friends had built would be her home, but it didn't feel like she had hoped. The hut was just walls around her to give her shelter.
Tears began to fall for her brown eyes has she replayed the reunion between past and present in her head.
*Flashback*
Sango carried her youngest on her back while Miroku held their twin daughters hands. Kagome let her arms fall from Inuyasha's embrace and smiled with so much excitement as she made her way to her friends. Shippou was the first to jump in her arms and hold her tightly before she was attacked by Sango and her children.
Before they could catch up on was had conspired the last three years, Kagome saw her. She was absolutely beautiful. Her light brown hair, that flowed down her back and almost long enough to tough the ground, swayed in the wind perfectly as she made her towards the group. It wasn't until she reached the group that Kagome noticed her gorgeous hazel eyes. Before the words could leave her mouth to ask who she was, the woman spoke,
"Hello, you must be Kagome. I'm Kiyuki. It's a pleasure to finally meet you. I've heard nothing my great things."
Even her voice was angelic. Kagome then processed that the woman before her was pregnant. Her belly was as round as a watermelon. Her hands rested on her belly as she made her way to stand next to Inuyasha. It only took Kagome two seconds to put everything all together. Her eyes widened and her mouth was agape a little.
Inuyasha looked to his mate and then to Kagome before taking a small step towards her, in which Kagome took one step back. It's as everyone in the group could hear her heart shattering.
"Kagome... I'm sorry.."
Right in that moment Kagome blinked and her whole persona changed. She had to shake her head alittle before walking a small distance forward and come to stand in front of Kiyuki. She extended her hand to the pregnant human. "It's a pleasure to meet you, I hope we can become good friends!"
Everyone took a look at each other, shocked that Kagome was not overly emotional as they expected.
After that encounter, everyone made their way to the village. Kagome made sure to not look to Inuyasha or Kiyuki. She knew she would fall apart if she even glanced their way. She knew it wasn't Kiyuki's fault but the woman had the future she hoped she would have. What was left for her to do now?
They all had a nice dinner at Sango and Miroku's hut before her friends showed her the hut they had built in hopes that she would return. Kagome thanked them before excusing herself for the night. She had walked into her supposed home and only then did she allow herself to fall apart.
Her knees hit the floor and she sobbed for what felt like days but was only a few hours. She then picked herself up off the floor. She unrolled her bedding and covered herself for the night before falling into a fast and deep sleep.
Inuyasha has been standing outside her hut, leaning against side, listening to her tears hit the floor, listening to her sobs as she cried out his name in unbearable pain. His ears flat on his head as he had his head tilted down so that his hair would cover his eyes so that no one could see the silent tears he cried as well.
*End Flashback*
Now her she sat on her bedding with her hands covering her chest, trying to comfort herself. Her tears continued, but she willed herself not to sob anymore.
"What do I do now..."
Thanks for everyone who's reading! I had already made this story before but decided to start from scratch and I made things a little different. I'm using my phone to type everything and to update. Sorry everything is short but I think a lot of chapters will be that way. We'll see! Hope you enjoyed it!!! (:
