Another few minutes passed. There was a flash, a warning of the inevitable that illuminated the otherwise pitch-black room for a brief second or so. And then nothing.

Waiting.

BOOM boom.

Renzo jumped a few inches off of the bed, his leg kicking out reflexively and against the body behind him. There was a flailing from his bedmate, the half-demon's body hitting the wall before letting out a groan of pain.

"Mmph, what the hell, Shima?" Rin asked, his hand slipping off of the pink-haired boy's waist and rubbing at the aching body part.

Shima. Not Renzo. How long had they been together now? A couple of weeks, at least, and the other male was still using his last name. Maybe it was just out of habit, to keep up appearances.

"Sorry, Rin. I...must have been shivering too hard. It's cold tonight, isn't it?" He smiled over his shoulder. It was an obvious lie, but his fellow esquire wasn't aware of his fear of thunder, there was no need to bring it up. Bugs were bad enough.

"Not really..." He looked down at himself. Of course, it was hard not to be warm when you were wearing a hoodie. Furrowing his brow, Rin tugged the article of clothing over his head and held it out. "You can wear it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

Sleep was still heavy in the half-demon's voice, and as soon as he handed the hoodie over Rin was face-first in his pillow. Admiring it for a moment, Renzo tugged the heavy fabric over himself. It was a little stuffy now with the added warmth, but it helped make up for the fact that his boyfriend was no longer up against his body. While he was no demon himself, his nose could still pick up the faint traces of smell attached to the piece of clothing: the smell of an extinguished match, and spices from tonight's dinner. Wrapping his arms around himself, he laid back down, drifting off to sleep.

And the thunder didn't bother him for the rest of the night.
