Three words... To a setting

Hot sunny skies

Dry biting winds

Silence of day

Inferno by night

Amidst the sand

A sparkling jewel

Beholding much promise

Promising much pain

Oasis of hedonism

Four words... To an encounter

The chinking of coins

Exuberance of a gamble

Raucous laughter, odorous liquor

Loss; thinly veiled schadenfreude

Table at the end

Stakes played astronomically high

Bubbling frustration and ecstasy

A quiet background silhouette

Starched Armani on tan

Navy blue and emerald

An amused observer laughing

Crimson blood on cream

Amber glimmering beneath blonde

An engaged participant, scowling

Eyes meet across dice

A casual saunter over

Slow caress of skin

A whisper of promises

Come with me tonight

Trade in your time

Wine for sleepless nights

Room six two nine

See you in the lobby

A lone departing figure

Quickly subsumed in crowds

The dealer politely prompts

It's your throw, miss

Will you continue this

Tango with Lady Luck

To hell with rules

She claimed with conviction

Dice forgotten, drink abandoned

Only to be replaced

With another form of

Vice in the night

Sweaty sheets, tangled bedcovers

Moans in the darkness

Shrieks in the dim

A slow, fiery dance

Presided over only by

The lone silver moon

Hanging high, watching, knowing

Five words... To a meeting

Waking up to a reality

Dead end jobs and mundanity

The stark grey office sights

Straight cut lines of conventionality

The passion smothered under prudence

A sudden commotion gets her

A new client, someone murmurs

Peeking over the cubicle shelf

Eyes widen, her breath catches

A hastened escape behind walls

The chair squeaks its protests

No, he wouldn't recognize me

Trussed up like a goose

In diamonds and Indian silk

Coiffed locks and painted eyes

An enigma of the night

A sigh of relief escapes

She turns to work, then

Nostalgic scents pervades her senses

A titillating touch on skin

Breathy voice in her ear

You left ten scratches, honey

I always count, believe me

When I wrote this, I was following no rules of poetry, so if it don't rhyme, don't sue.

The main theme of this new fic is elegance in simplicity
