Farewell Kiss
The wind blew and Nezumi wondered how long it would take for Shion to come back and fulfill his promise to have everyone living together.
He kicked the sand on his way back and sighed. There was still another promise, unspoken, but they never needed any more words to express their hearts' desire after that "good night" kiss.
Even though the lie behind that sweetness broke his heart a little at the time, he couldn't help the fast beating of his heart at the aftertaste and the thought that Shion wanted to spare him a lips kiss at night. He never had that before.
The view of the destroyed west district half brought him back to reality and a feeling of guilt almost made its way to his heart. He had sacrificed everything, even his utmost desire to destroy No. 6, just to follow Sion on his quest, just to accomplish that third option. Just so he wouldn't risk having that clueless person dive alone in that sea of despair.
Shion became his wish, his reason, his goal, through and through, before he had a chance to stop it.
Not that he would if he could. He would be nothing but ashes if he never met that sweet kid.
Nezumi reached his door and opened it slowly, the two plates on the table catching his eye. The blanket on the sofa. The books Shion used to read out of the shelf.
He was good at waiting. He would wait. But waiting never felt that painful and longing took over his heart as he left himself fall over that couch he was kissed farewell. He touched his lips again like he did on that night and thought of the kiss from a while ago.
A "come back soon" kiss. An "I'm here for you" kiss. A "don't forget about me" kiss.
A/N: Hiii this is my first atempt on this anime. I watched the series this week and it was so different from most things I've watched that I fell for it hahaha. Many things felt incredibly real considering the universe is so unreal. And yet some aspects of human nature are so true in there! But anyway, obviously, the pair Nezumi and Shion needed a tribute because they are so unique and so devoted to each other. So I wanted to write about that character whose feelings we just get to see once in a while. When It's about Sion, he's someone else, like Dogkeeper would have put :) I hope you enjoyed the short piece as much as I enjoyed writing it! :)
