The thought of going back to NCIS and hassling Agent DiNozzo was simply too good to pass up, and when Fornell announced the reason they were heading over there, a smile played its way across Special Agent Ron Sacks' face. This was the opportunity he had been looking forward to ever since he had met the obnoxious NCIS agent the previous year.
Now, Sacks didn't really have anything against Tony – he just found him egotistical and a bit too "pretty" to be taken seriously as an officer of the law. Not to mention, he was absolutely positive the man had chomped into that woman's leg, and if it weren't for their damn smart lab tech, he'd be gloating over putting Tony into a prison cell.
But now they had another chance, the chance he'd been waiting for ever since he'd first started working with Fornell, to bring down the agency that seemed to have it all. He was really going to enjoy this.
Thinking back to his previous visit to NCIS generally brought a scowl to Sacks' face, not only for the "case that got away," as he heard some fellow FBI agents refer to it, but Gibbs' team itself. There was no way any of them would ever rat another out, so even if someone were breaking rules or, you know, murdering people, there was no way he'd find out from one of them. It sucked, to put it plainly, because he had to do some actual work.
But then this opportunity arose, and suddenly, the ball seemed to be back in his court. He could prove his worth as a federal agent, and it also meant he'd get to nag DiNozzo again. It was a win-win situation.
The only problem was that whole "team dynamic" thing. Tony's partner was the one in trouble this time, that feisty little Mossad agent, and God knows what she'd do to him if he put her away for something she didn't do. Or the rest of the team, for that matter. Or Fornell. He saw the relationship he had with Gibbs. Messing with anyone on Gibbs' team would piss Gibbs off, which would therefore piss Fornell off, and who knows, he might end up back in Philly, busting some thug for selling pot out of his glove compartment. He didn't want that.
His smile returned when he thought back on how delicious it was to wipe that smug smirk off DiNozzo's face. He only hoped this case would leave him another chance to do the same thing, even if it meant putting away DiNozzo's partner, who wasn't that bad herself, if just a bit scary at times.
"Sacks." He turned to face Fornell, who was waiting at the elevator. "You waitin' for an invitation?"
Sacks smirked. "Not at all." He walked over to join the older man. "You know, I think you're spending too much time with Gibbs. You're starting to sound just like him."
Fornell responded by slapping Sacks upside the head, leaving Sacks with his mouth open in shock, then walked into the elevator.
Sacks shook his head, then walked to join him, muttering, "Yep. Definitely too much time over at NCIS."
