Coffee Break

---

Kanda has a very specific morning routine. He likes this routine. It works for him. So when something gets in the way of that routine, he isn't very happy.

Like today. The stupid rabbit shows up at his dorm room and nearly knocks the door off it's hinges, and proceeds to drag Kanda out of the room with an arm around his neck. Of course Kanda curses and tries to pull away, repeatedly, but Lavi is having none of it. And unfortunately, when Lavi is determined, even a sword in front of his nose can't deter him.

Which is why Kanda is sitting rather grumpily at a corner booth in some artsy little coffee shop about twenty minutes out of his way. He glares at the rabbit with his arms crossed as he chats up a passing bus boy... er, girl, who he might vaguely recognize if he cared enough.

Their waiter comes, a short kid with white hair of all things, and some weird tattoo or something on his face. He looks surprised to see Lavi. The look of surprise is quickly replaced with a beaming smile.

"Lavi! What are you doing here?"

"Told ya I'd come visit when you started working!"

They start talking animatedly and Kanda gets more annoyed by the second. He didn't want to come to this place at all, and he sure as hell didn't want to come and listen to these two chirping like little girls. A couple people in nearby tables move away as Kanda's anger becomes more evident, but the rabbit and the kid are completely oblivious to their eminent doom.

"... so that kid with the blonde hair, what's his name? The one that sits in front of me in Chemistry?"

"I think it's Bak."

"Right! Bak! He was all in love with whatsername and..."

Kanda just can't take it anymore. He gets up and starts to storm out of the place when Lavi catches his wrist. He whirls around to snap at Lavi, pulling his wrist back. But once again Lavi will have none of it. He stands up and pushes Kanda in front of his with a surprisingly firm grip on his shoulders.

"Where are my manners! This is Kanda. And this is Allen."

The kid, more like a moyashi, he decides, turns bright red and suddenly looks shy. iHn. He didn't seem like the shy type a few seconds ago,/i he thinks.

The moyashi fiddles with the hem of his shirt for a second. "N-nice to meet you." He holds a hand out. There's an odd hopeful look in his eyes, a softer smile on his face. Kanda wonders what's up with the moyashi before he scoffs and turns on his heel and leaves.

Or tries to, because Lavi still has that ridiculously tight grip on one of his shoulders, and steers him back to face the moyashi. "You're so rude, Kanda."

"Tch. When am I not rude?" And with that he knocks Lavi's hand away and leaves before he can replace it.

Lavi is left looking after his dark haired friend frowning. Of course he knew this would take some time. Scratch that. With Kanda, it might take millennia . But he really hoped he wouldn't break Allen's heart on their first meeting.

He prepares to see the crushed look on Allen's face when he turns around, an apology ready on his lips. But instead he sees the very last thing he expects. Allen is standing there looking after Kanda with a far away look and the biggest smile he has possibly ever seen on his face.

"Allen? You okay?"

"God he's hot."

Lavi smiles then. Allen is hopeless. Truly hopeless. But not with Lavi around. He's determined to get Kanda to notice him. And when Lavi is determined, nothing will stop him.

06- So. That uber long one-shot I've been working on? Gone. I backed up my computer knowing it would crash soon, and the CD refuses to work on my computer. So I rewrote it. And as I rewrote it I realized there was a lot of unnecessary stuff. The result is a much shorter, to the point one shot. That may or may not be added to later.
