The team sits around the glowing television screen in the precinct as they watch the replay of the brutal beating of the ADA caught by the surveillance cameras surrounding her condominium. Olivia cringes as she watches the assailant beat the ADA with a steel pipe as she attempted to crawl away. Olivia closes her eyes as the assailant gets more and more violent, motivated by the sounds of her screams. She knows the ending. She does not need to see it played out on a screen bigger than her. She feels a hand squeeze her shoulder and she feels the tears sting the back of her eyes. His touch always had a way of making her walls come down. Olivia cleared her throat and excused herself, pulling herself away from his grasp.

Olivia walked into the bathroom, partially glad to be away from Elliot and his attempts to make her feel better. She knew he was only doing what he thought would help but in Olivia's mind he was only making her face what she didn't want to face the most. Alexis was her favorite ADA. When Alexis first showed up at the precinct, the two had butt heads more than any other but eventually they began to see they were both fighting for the same cause. Alexis was the first to break her tough façade and ask Olivia to join her for a drink after work. To everyone in the precinct's surprise, Olivia agreed and the two slowly but steadily built a friendship. Eventually the two were going to get coffees together and even organizing events to promote awareness of sexual abuse.

When hearing of Alexis' attack, Olivia ran from her apartment and drove as fast as traffic permitted her with her siren blaring the entire way. Without bothering to properly park her car, she threw it into park in front of the ER entrance and ran inside. She walked into a scene she will never forget. Everyone who was waiting there looked dead inside and some had tears staining their cheeks. They stared at her without saying a word. A lump formed in Olivia's throat as she tried to ask the question she knew she needed to ask. "Is she okay?" She swallowed hard.

Elliot seemed to materialize out of the crowd of blank faces as he came closer she could see her answer written all over his face. The first tears fell from her eyes as he pulled her close to him. She immediately sobbed into his chest while he brushed his fingers over her hair to comfort her to no avail. Olivia's sobs permeated the silence of the waiting room. The rest of them had known the news for twenty minutes. Olivia pulled herself together and walked to the bathroom with Elliot following close behind.

Elliot grabbed her hand just before she slipped into the women's bathroom, "Liv"

Olivia stopped and sighed. She walked out of the bathroom, still holding Elliot's hand, and slid down the wall. She sat silently as Elliot held her hand and put his other arm around her, pulling her into his chest. The tears fell silently from her eyes and wet Elliot's white shirt. He kissed the top of her head and instantly she was pulled back to the night they went too far.
