"Gill, take care of Elise while I'm gone, okay?" Angela called to her husband as she opened the door. "I'll be back later! 'Bye!" The door shut quietly. It was the only sound in the house on that Fall morning.

A few seconds after the door shut, a little girl with messy blonde wavy hair bounced into the room, still in her pink pajamas.

"Good morning, Daddy!" she greeted Gill, who was sitting at the table. "Can you make me some breakfast now?"

"Morning, Elise," Gill yawned as he got up. "What do you want for breakfast?"

"Um..." Elise pondered for a moment. "Chocolate!"

"You can't have chocolate for breakfast."

Elise's brown eyes looked up at her daddy pleadingly. "But Mommy lets me!"

"How about cereal?" Gill offered.

"Is it chocolate cereal?"

Gill glanced at the Honey Nut Cheerios. "You have to eat all of it."

"Okay!"

Gill poured the cereal and milk into the bowl and set it in front of Elise. After she was done, she was bouncing around again.

"Go get dressed, and then we can go outside and do something, okay?" Gill said, putting the bowl into the sink.

Elise ran up the stairs. It seemed like she was only up there for three seconds before she was downstairs again in a pink dress.

"Can you brush my hair, Daddy?" Elise asked. "Mommy usually does my hair." She put the brush into Gill's hand and plopped down in front of him. When he didn't start brushing right away, Elise giggled, "Do you even know how to brush hair, Daddy?"

"Of course I do," Gill lied.

Elise handed him some black bows from her dress pocket. "Don't forget the bows!"

"Of course. Why would I forget the bows?" Gill started running the brush through Elise's hair gently. He had no idea how to put bows in. He clipped them in random places. He paused to admire his work. Okay, it didn't look exactly like how Angela did it, but it was close enough.

"Let's go outside now!" Elise squealed. She tugged on Gill's hand, pulling him out the door. "Let's go to the waterfall and play!" She turned toward the animal field. "Come on, Oreo!" The little white cat bounded to Elise.

"What do you want to play?" Gill asked once they got to the waterfall.

"I want to play-OH NO! OREO!" Elise shrieked, pointing to the cat that had just jumped into the river. "I'll save you!" With that, Elise dove straight after the cat, forgetting that she didn't know how to swim.

Gill froze in shock. Elise's head didn't bob back up. Without thinking, he jumped in after her and the cat. The river was freezing! Elise was clinging to a rock, looking like she was about ready to cry. The cat was on top of the rock grooming and looking pleased with itself. Gill got himself and Elise onto the grass. Elise flopped down on her back and started to...laugh?

"That was sooo much fun, Daddy!" she laughed.

"Elise, that was not funny," Gill scolded. "You could've died, or got hurt, or drowned, or-"

"Mommy's right. You are a worrywart. But it's okay, Daddy! You saved me 'cause you're a superhero!" Elise stood up to hug her Daddy. "I love you! You're the best!"

-The Next Day-

"What exactly did you guys do yesterday to give you a cold?" Angela asked her husband.

"Um..."

"We went swimming! And Daddy had to save me like a superhero!" Elise squealed in delight.

Angela raised an eyebrow amusedly. "Uh-huh..." She looked at Gill. "I am never leaving you home alone with her again."

A/N Is it okay? I dunno...Please don't flame. Critism, requests, and reviews welcome!
