He opened his eyes which were filled with tears
Ignoring the sound of his ringing ears
Gathering strength he stood up tall
Then back to the bed he did fall
A mumbled groan escaped his lips
For years he's had to put up with this
Glanced outside through the curtains parted
Two figures walked up and in shock he started
A blast from the past on his secluded doorstep
Deep in the country of Singapore, yet
They managed to find them all alone
He heard the bell's chime through his home
His sister answered, he heard her shock
He wanted to head out and act as a block
But it was too late, she invited them in
He grit his teeth as they walked to the den
He'll help her out, he'll find a way
He climbed out of bed, still in a daze
Bound by fear, listening at the door
'Cause he doesn't trust anyone anymore
They chat awhile, but nothing exciting
At least his head had stopped its whining
And at some point they made to leave
So he went back to his room in peace
But he watched through his window pane
As they strolled away down the lane
Got back in their car and shut their doors
'Cause he doesn't trust anyone anymore
Note: This is a poem centering around the scene in Mission Titanic when Nellie and Sammy visit the Starlings. Told from Ned's point of view, he's in his bedroom when he glances out the windows and sees them approaching. He's shocked that they managed to find them, and wants to help his siblings even though he's still coming down from a migraine - so he listens at the door to the room they were in to make sure Nellie and Sammy don't try anything to hurt Sinead or Ted. When they start getting ready to leave, he goes back to his room, but watches until they drive away, "'cause he doesn't trust anyone anymore."
And yes, I am aware that Sinead mentioned taking Ned to the hospital a few days before Nellie and Sammy arrived at their house, but she never said whether or not he had been brought back home yet. That's where the inspiration for this came from.
Hugs,
Bre
