High Minded Castle

Clow Reed sat alone upon the steps of a regarded establishment in the mists of time and the magic that he himself had created for others and himself, the magic that he had conjured to in the hopes of changing the world for the better. He stared upon the silver sky that painted above with a myriad of gold and black creating a bittersweet tapestry. The revered magician sighed, feeling a sharp pang in his chest, as if plagued by a heavy deed that can never be undone.

The deed was forbidden and dark, so dark it was, just like everything else that now existed. Breaking the law of time itself, almost ripping apart the tapestry that was so long known and never broken, but he, in a moment of desperation and impulse, broke in the name of the Dimensional Witch, Yuuko Ichihara. He wanted her to live for the longest time, and he wanted to let her know that her presence and her name would be remembered and cherished, even if he was the only one who knew her.

He wanted to tell her that he had been plagued by his misguidance, tearing him from the inside out and beg her forgiveness, even if it meant to reverse the process of letting her live an eternal life, and if the wish for her life to end were to come, then so be it. It was a selfish desire, to prolong her existence so he would feel self-worth if she was alive alongside him.

Then the universe would not recognize her existence if she had died, then her presence would have not touched time and space alike. Then no one would remember her at all.

But…in all due sense…he knew her.

He knew the Yuuko Ichihara that had been lurking under the surface for oh so long, just waiting to be released in one burst of careless abandon, the abandon that she needed to cut her ties, her earthly ties to those who sadly needed her the most.

He sat and pondered. If there was anything he could have done to save Yuuko from her terrible fate, would he not have done it? Would he not have gotten up and tried to do something about it, something so that Yuuko could be at peace, be all right with both herself and the world that she lived in, the worlds that she had access to unbeknownst to the fate that she had be assigned?

Nothing was ever sure.

He was never sure about Yuuko.

He was never sure about himself.

But…

If there was anything to count on, it was Yuuko's perseverance.

That perseverance would one day save her.

That he knew very well, and that would be his only comfort.
