Your time hasn't come yet

Walking down Life Street like you're some sullen king

No cutting corners…

you think you're trapped in darkness

In reality there's nothing to worry about

Just the horrors of your thoughts

But what you believe

Has yet to come

Just around the corner

A dark mist; human eyes cannot see through

As a once cloudless sky turns blood red

resentful black streaks cut across the sky

Like motionless lightning bolts

Cracking open the once blue above

And your face grows stricken with pallor

As musk dampness fills the air with uncomfortable warmth.

Yet your skin shivers.

For you never would have guessed

What might hit you…

So caught up in the moment

Clenching onto yourself

Your thoughts

Your emotions

Whatever you feel.

You never noticed one foot in the black mist.

Gradually condensing itself

Into a hideous grasp.

Pulling you

closer...

You feel your feet sinking deeper and deeper

Slowly

Into an onyx black grime

a terrifying ooze

Cold and hard

Yet pliable enough to pull you into itself.

Something of evil…

Of dissent

Disease

Dismay

And your eyes fade, turning to black

Tears roll down your cheeks; incomprehensibly lucid.

There's no use struggling

You believe

You were destined for this

You tell yourself.

Giving in, there was no reason in the beginning

You sink

Faster and faster

Yet time moves by

Centuries like minutes.

Minutes like seconds.

Seconds rush by like forever.

But a wave of paradigm

Shifts through your once, past, present clouded mind

And visions of a ladder

Settle into the foggy mist

Without further notice,

You're headed halfway up,

Looking down, you abandon the dark mist

As it glares at you,

Carving deep into the back of your skull.

But you avert from it, and look up into the white light;

Crisp, cool, refreshing.

A cloudiness absconds,

Replaced by light and pure freedom

And such majesty

Such grace.

Chains of despair that have weighed you down before

Lose their weight, release their grip.

You climb onto the last rung of the ladder,

Feet placed, defying gravity and the laws of nature

A bright light flushes your face

As you float about clouds of white

Into the pale blue sky,

And float into eternity.
