Then Solo had gotten sick and had died, the orphans made Duo their leader. Soon after that, they were taken to the Maxwell church. Duo smiled at the memory. His days at the Maxwell Church were the best days of his life. But then the rebellion started. After the church was destroyed, and Father Maxwell and Sister Helen had died, Duo had wandered the empty streets for a few weeks after.

He eventually made his way the Dr.G's cruiser and worked with him. He learned how to pilot Deathscythe and in April of AC 195, he left Dr.G to carry out his missions against OZ.

One by one, Duo had met the other Gundam pilots, made friends with Quatre (whom he was currently with), argued with Wufei, tried to talk with Trowa and tried to figure out why Heero kept triying to kill himself. When the colonies had said that the Gundams were their enemies, the pilots hadn't known what to do. But Duo was, in his opinion, the most confused out of them all.

Turning back to face his Gundam, he finished attaching it to the shuttle that Quatre had gotten. The war was over and they were sending their Gundams into the sun. After closing the hatch, Duo walked out of the hanger. As he walked, the last verse of the song echoed across the hanger:
