They had caught them unaware.

In the dead of the night.

They came.

They set the city alight.

They slaughtered.

They destroyed.

The soldiers threw the ropes around the heads of the statues that stood proudly in the atrium before pulling them with so much force that the ground beneath them shook. One by one, buildings that were the pride of the proud city of Troy crumbled to ruins as its citizens fled with crazed panic. Screams of mercy and pain mingled with the crackling of the fire that engulfed the city.

"Briesis," shouted a voice that was drowned by the cries of panic.

He had to find her. He needed her.

"Briesis," he cried again in desperation, pushing past the many Trojans trying to escape the same fact of their beloved city, as he ventured further into the palace. Taking another turn, he ran into the courtyard where he found her. Quickly, he wrestled her away from the Greek soldiers before killing them in two swift, but deadly moves.

"You came back," Briesis whispered as he began to lift her from the ground. At that moment, she noticed her cousin pulling a bow string back. "No, Paris! No!"

However, it was too late.

Paris released the arrow, delivering a sharp and accurate shot straight into his target's ankle.

"No," Briesis screamed as Achilles arched back in pain. Slowly, he turned towards Paris.

Swiftly, Paris release more deadly accurate arrows.

"No," Briesis cried, pulling her love back. "No. You cannot die."

"You must go," Achilles struggled.

"No," Briesis protested as tears streamed down her face. "I need you."

"You gave me peace in a lifetime of war," Achilles replied as his strength drained.

"Come, Briesis," Paris insisted as he took Briesis' arm. "We must go now."

"No," she retorted, holding onto Achilles.

"Go," Achilles persisted. "In another life. We'll be together again."

Briesis stroked his face one last time before letting Paris' hands pull her away. She stumbled up the stairs as she took one last look at the man that had stolen her heart and her love.

Achilles watched her as she ran into the palace before his world dissolved to black.

They would meet again in a very different world.
