Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who, (which is always a disappointment for me but probably a good thing as we wouldn't have seen that frankly FANTASTIC episode we all saw at 7 today!) but I do 'own' some friends who are rather bored of me talking continuously about it, day in, day out.
Dedication: Said friends, Corina and Izzy mostly. This is for you, like it's going to make me stop but never mind, the thought was there!
A/N: a)I wrote this at about one in the morning on Friday and I just patched it up today
b) AGAIN broke my golden rule of not posting until everything else is finished so I have now given up on that rule and will post what I like when I like!
c) If you can listen to 'The Doctor's Theme' on the Doctor Who Sound track when reading this, it puts it in a whole new light. P.S. The Doctor Who Team actually call The Doctor's Theme, President Flavia so I didn't totally make this up out of the blue.

The echo of a song lost in the winds of time
Time Lords used to sing. They sang beautiful wordless moving songs with melodies and tunes that warmed the hearts and stirred the mind with a feeling of love and beauty. The whole Citadel sang loud and clear and they projected these songs into infinite time. These wordless, soft, beautiful songs, so small in act but so huge in meaning.
The songs were all sung out loud, all but one 'President' was sung telepathically, always there and always loud and strong with a feeling of hope ad courage to it. Rassilon had started it and his song had boomed out into the minds of his subjects, Borusa too, even the Doctor had once, Flavia had sung it best, Romana had a war to organise and hadn't had time to sing. So President Flavia had sung it best, and he telepathically through her song into the time lines. So her voice intermingled with the other Time Lord's songs until they became a harmony of beauty. They became the sound of the universe. Every race and species had heard them in some shape of form; some recognised the Time Lord's voices some didn't. Even humans had heard their singing though, and felt moved by it. The whole universe was connecting in some way by the songs. Everyone heard them singing.
It isn't heard anymore.
But one song survived, having been cast into the vortex as well as infinite time. And the vortex remembers it's own. The song that survived was a fraction of its original beauty and strength, more like the whisper of a sigh but Flavia's 'President' was still there, weak, but there and it was heard and gave courage to those who heard it. The last remaining Time Lord heard it when he had given up all hope, The Face of Boe heard it before he teleported, Donna Noble heard it as she walked away to a better life, Trish Webber heard it when the 'policemen' came to help her daughter; the whole universe heard it. It echoed around planets and solar systems and galaxies but that's all it was. An echo. An echo of a mighty civilisation. An echo of the Time Lords.
An echo of a song cast to the winds of time.
