"Remember our first almost date?" Marinette asked as they wandered over to see the elephants, "It happened here."
"Yeah, I thought that may be you'd give me a chance." Nino admitted, looking away to perhaps find the giraffes or may be to avoid any lingering awkwardness.
"I should of. But, I had the biggest crush on Adrien back then and thought that he'd asked me out for some reason." She sighed as she shook her head, "I should have said, 'yes,' for you and not him. Just, I didn't know what I'd be missing, I guess." She reached her hand out gently to grab his.
"What you'd be missing?" Nino stopped to glance back over at his girlfriend, finally even after all these years.
"I'd be missing this." She admitted with a light pink blush staining her cheeks, "I'd miss getting to hold your hand and feel just so welcomed and loved by it. I'd miss getting to walk the whole zoo with you, and I'm miss being able to call you my boyfriend, and I'd miss..." She trailed off as nerves hit her and yet still managed to step closer and kiss Nino.
She poured what she didn't say into the kiss, lips brushing, tongues slipping through; love seeped through every action and every moment, and all that Nino wanted to do was hold her as close as possible and kiss her as much as he could.
When she finally pulled away with a delighted and yet kind of shy smile, Nino had one question to ask.
"What else would you have missed?" He wondered if it was too much when his girlfriend's face went bright red.
"I would have missed being able to kiss you." Finally came from her lips, almost too quiet to hear, and Nino wondered if he could have this day all over again, always, because his girlfriend was so endearingly cute.
"Then let's kiss, so that you don't have to worry about missing it." All that he could say was when she was shy, she brought out his bolder side that he always regretted when too much slipped from his lips.
She giggled, shaking her head, before she pulled him in for another kiss anyway. Nino definitely would take this day a hundred times over, finally being back at that zoo, getting to kiss his girlfriend as if the world truly was the most beautiful place ever. He was happier than he'd ever would have expected a year ago, when he thought that he was moving on, and before she'd even given him this great chance.
Now, he never wanted to let this love go, because it lit up an endless fire in his chest regardless of anything else around them.
