At the request of a friend: A Teen Titans SpeedyRobin fic.
Robin looked at the note in his hands incredulously. It read:
-
Robin,
I really really like you. So...will you come to the top of the tower tonight? I want to talk to you...
-
It wasn't signed, and it was written in all capitals so Robin had no idea who it could have been from. He highly suspected it was a joke, but he couldn't be sure...a lot of the other junior superheroes were staying over for the holidays, so it could have been one of them...
He tucked it into his pocket and headed downstairs. Speedy and Beast Boy were playing some kind of racing game, and Speedy was living up to his name by absolutely thrashing Beast Boy. Robin watched for a while, then went on to the kitchen where Aqualad was mooching in the fridge. Robin grunted a greeting to him and took an apple out of the fruitbowl, biting into it absently. He spluttered and choked, then looked down. The apple was purple...and knobbly...
"Friend Robin, do you like thorgrasks? I did not think you ate Tamaranian foods..." Starfire appeared, looking cheerful as ever. Robin smiled uneasily. "Yeah, it's um...good." He slipped away quickly and deposited the whatever-it-was in the bin. He went back to the TV room and watched Bumblebee flirt wantonly with Cyborg while Beast Boy demanded a rematch from Speedy. He sat there in a daze, wondering who had sent him that letter...and if they had meant it...
"Hello?" Robin looked around the roof nervously. Now he'd come, it seemed like the worst idea in the world ever. He stepped forwards a few paces, then stopped. "Hello?"
"Hey Robin."
Robin turned only to find a shadowed figure behind him. It approached, and Robin was shocked to see that it was none other than Speedy! "S-Speedy?"
"Did you get that note? Or are you just up here by coincidence?" Robin opened his mouth to reply, then paused.
"You mean -you- sent it!"
Speedy sighed. "Yeah. I know you probably don't want to know, but...I really like you Robin. And...well, I don't mind if you don't like me back, I just needed to let you know. Um." Robin stared at him, and he began to get unnerved. "I should have known you'd be a homophobe...I'll...I'll just, um...I'll just..." He headed back towards the stairs.
"Wait." Speedy stopped short. "I'm not a homophobe."
"Yeah, but you're not gay, either, so I'm going to leave now before I embarass myself even more."
"Don't. I..." Robin hesitated. "I don't know."
"Huh?" Speedy turned.
"I don't know...if I'm gay or straight. I've never been able to make up my mind..."
"You're a bisexual? Now that's just plain greedy..."
Robin shook his head. "I don't mean that. It's just...well...I like Starfire...but I find myself looking at men sometimes...I can't believe I'm telling you this...oh God." Robin turned away. "Can we just forget this happened? I feel like such an idiot..." He jumped as a hand touched his shoulder. The hand rose, feathering through his hair, and then an arm wrapped itself around his waist. He turned and found himself lost in Speedy's eyes. He was so busy being entranced by said eyes he didn't notice Speedy leaning closer until their lips touched softly.
He pulled away and looked at Speedy strangely. "I liked that..." Speedy smiled and kissed him again. Once more, Robin found himself enjoying it immensely. He wound his arms around Speedy's neck and kissed him back, heart racing. "Still confused?" Asked Speedy when they broke apart. Robin shook his head. "Good. So..." He smirked. "Should we take up where we left off?" Robin nodded breathlessy, and Speedy kissed him deeply. Robin found a low moan escaping his throat totally of its own accord and smiled against Speedy's lips. He'd thought he'd liked Starfire...but now it was apparent that he didn't. Or at least, not as much as he liked Speedy...
Fin.
