It all started in the year of 2008. Leaving for summer vacation, and she was getting ready to start her vacation with her family. Anna was getting ready to get on the airplane to Istanbul, Turkey. Her father was from there so her whole father's side of the family lived there. Anna is a typical American girl, she loves music, cheer-leading and acting. She has been going to Turkey for as long as she can remember. This time she was eleven years old. As Anna walked onto the airplane she thought about how boring things normally are in Turkey. She loves her family but she doesn't have to many friends in Turkey because she is only there for two months. Although Anna was really happy to get out of the boring state of Connecticut. All the drama and stress of middle school was enough and she just wanted to put it behind her. When she arrived at the Istanbul airport her family greeted her with warm hugs and kisses that she hasn't felt in two years. The time change had Anna in a very vulnerable state of fatigue that she couldn't bear. She got to her aunts apartment and passed out asleep. When she woke up she forgot where she was but it was 4:00 in the afternoon and she heard the muffled sounds of Turkish that she hasn't heard in years but she struggled to understand. She understood that her cousin was getting married in August and they were all invited to go to the wedding. Anna was so excited to go to her cousins wedding! This would be the first wedding she had ever been invited to go to. She slowly climbed out of bed and went to the kitchen to find something to eat. Anna was so famished because she hasn't really eaten anything in two days. She opened up the fridge and she was surprised to see there was an abundance of baklava,and cheese pastry's and desserts. She missed Turkish food so much because she hasn't had it in so long. She binged and ate as much food as she possibly could. Her aunt walked in the room and chuckled a bit and said "afiyet olsun" which means enjoy your food. It was really weird for Anna because she hasn't seen her aunt in a long time, seeing her in front of her was really weird. She told her about the wedding and how she would see a lot of family members and family friends she never saw or met before in her entire life. She wondered who she would meet and who she would remember.
