Mrs. and Mr. Varg were a rather odd couple. Along with their son, they were the oddest family on their street. The oddest one on Privet Drive, to be exact. They were young, fritzy, anxious, they weren't born in The United Kingdom, and they saw evidence of their crime everywhere.
Their crime was a gem. Not a wizard, A FUCKING GEM. Suck on that, Dursleys!
was a stocky man with mousy, thinning brown hair. His wife, was thinner, darker haired, and had heavy bags under her eyes that made them look like those of raccoons. Their son was as perfect as any child could be, blue-eyed, blonde haired, and absolutely darling. was a school counselor, and was a stay-at-home mom, also making odd crafts, like violins made out of burnt matches. They were odd enough already, but it only got worse eleven years before this story began.
It was a rather rainy day, it poured as drove out of Privet Drive, and saw an almost supernatural looking white bird, with a medium sized beak, bright blue eyes, wings tipped with pastel blues, greens, yellows, pinks, and purples. It had a large white pearl on it's forehead, in the oval shape. This would be an odd sight for most, but for , it was odd and frightening. Spooky, I know. The bird was beautiful, but was terrified of anything reminding him of his wife's agreement. He sped off, and proceeded to work, feeling that the bird he saw was a harbinger of doom. He worked, still paranoid that the promise made would ruin everything for him.
When he was driving home from work, he noticed some very peculiar activity happening all around him. People with oddly colored skin and hair, and gems somewhere on their body. They walked the streets, only making more anxious. He knew he was in trouble now, and decided he'd pick up some baked goods, just to distract him from what he knew was coming. He walked into the small bakery near his home, running because he forgot his umbrella. When he got into the store, he saw more of these oddly colored people. One of them was screaming at a cash register, some of them were looking at the sweets with a mix of intruigue and revolt. Some just sat at the tables, talking with hushed whispers. Just a second ago, he could have sworn on his life that the chatter was loud and lively, like a warm fire. Now the chatter felt like the sound of a thousand forks being dropped. He just wanted to buy some shortbread, for Hell's sake! He managed to get some shortbreads and he attempted to get out the door, when a fuscia-maroon skinned lady with hair like a square and a really cool visor who towered above him poked his back.
"William Varg, we nee-"
He took his shortbread, slammed his cash onto the counter, and bolted. The Square Lady chased him, she was as fast as a train. She didn't want to hurt him though.
"I just wanted you to give this to your wife." Square Lady took off her visor, and recieved the shock of his life, because she had three eyes. She handed him a necklace, with an oval shaped diamond bigger than his hand.
"She made a promise to raise him as a human. Make sure everyone thinks he's a human, and he needs to keep a low profile."
looked up at her.'
"What the fu-"
"She'll tell me if you don't give him to her. Tell her he's safe, and that Garnet got him to her."
And with that, nothing was the same. For the Vargs and Gemkind!
