Living with a doctor had it's ups and downs. First of all, Hiroki could never hide his being sick from Nowaki. That in itself was pretty annoying, because then his lover would go into 'doctor' mode. Basically that meant that Hiroki wouldn't be allowed out of bed until he was deemed well by Nowaki...and that could take awhile.

"Hiro-san, you aren't allowed out of bed until I say so!"

"You idiot, I have a class to teach!"

"Too bad...I'm not letting you up. Doctor's orders."

"Why do you always have to do thi- OI! Get off me you big oaf!"

Another downside was the hours. Sometimes Nowaki had to go over twenty four hours with no rest whatsoever. He would come home exhausted, and sometimes Hiroki worried that the doctor himself would come down with something serious. Whenever he expressed his worries Nowaki would just ruffle his hair and call him cute, which resulted in Hiroki getting irritated and forgetting about his worries.

"Just look at yourself, you can hardly open your eyes! Get in bed right now!"

"Aw, but Hiro-san, I wanted to take you out to dinner now that I finally have an evening off."

"No! I refuse to go on any dates with you until you can actually keep your eyes open for over thirty seconds."

"Well….fine. But you're coming to bed with me!"

One good thing about living with a doctor was that Nowaki always, or at least most of the time, knew what was wrong when someone was sick. For instance, one time they were having a date at the park they'd first met in. When a child near them collapsed, Nowaki was able to determine that it was due to heat exhaustion and dehydration. He reassured the parents and cooled off the child with ice water until an ambulance came. The whole time he was reassuring and calm...a trait that Hiroki didn't often see him use.

"Is something the matter Hiro-san?"

"What? Oh, no. It's just different, seeing you act so...mature."

"Oh really?" Nowaki smiled, leaning in closer and smiling in a suggestive manner. "Do you…like it?"

"Tch, idiot!"

Another wonderful about Nowaki being a doctor was that he always seemed to know what Hiroki needed when he was sick...but that might also have to do with being lovers. Nowaki always knew that Hiroki liked to be cuddled when he was feverish. He also knew that Hiroki had trouble swallowing pills so he had to take liquid medicine, and that he was allergic to penicillin and peanuts.

"You'll feel better after this nice cup of tea. Trust me." Nowaki said with one of his winning smiles, passing a cup of steaming hot tea to his bedridden lover. "It's just the thing for laryngitis. I added a teaspoon of honey too. It'll work wonders on your throat."

"T-Thanks," Hiroki whispered hoarsely, taking a small sip from the cup. Instantly the pain died down, and he sighed in relief. Nowaki pulled back the covers and slipped into the bed himself, pulling Hiroki into his arms.

Hiroki sighed as his body was instantly filled with warmth, closing his eyes as he snuggled against the love of his life. Nowaki always knew what he needed.

Living with a doctor had it's ups and downs...but Hiroki realized that he enjoyed that. Living with someone who practiced medicine wasn't that bad. At the very least, it kept things interesting. Besides….Hiroki had to admit….

Nowaki looked dead sexy in his doctor's lab coat.
