Author's Note: Hey all! As most of you have already figured, this is based on the haircut that Riku has in KH3D. Hope you enjoy my take on how it got that way!

Riku wasn't sure whether this was a good idea. Of course, it had been his idea, but that didn't mean that he was right in any way, shape, or form. In fact, if Kairi had slapped him across the face for even suggesting such a thing, he would've welcomed it.

But instead, she had smiled and agreed: she would help him cut his hair.

She frowned as he saw the uncomfortable look he gave his reflection. "Are you okay?" she asked, opening the drawer to get her scissors. They were in her bathroom, the counter littered with lotions and soaps, along with haircare products that she might need to undertake the task of cutting Riku's hair.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he said, waving away his sudden spiking concern for his silver locks.

Kairi gave him a crooked smile through the mirror, one that reminded him of Sora's whenever he was trying to hide something from him.

"Do you not want me to?"

"Ah, no!" she said quickly. "I'm just gonna miss it a little, that's all. But it's hair, it can always grow back!"

Riku examined himself in the mirror again and agreed, nodding his head. "I forgot it would… alright, you can start, I guess."

She shrugged and wielded a spray bottle in her hands, dampening his hair and combing it through. "Sora will laugh at you if I mess up," she warned.

"I don't mind."

"Alright then, I'm gonna start now..." she said, her sing-song tone almost making him want to jump out of the chair and far away from sharp-edged objects. She noticed his stiff posture and giggled. "Oh come on, I'm not that bad. I've done Selphie's hair before."

"Did she like it?"

"After she styled it a little, yeah. And I have that crazy hair gel Sora uses if you feel the need," she joked.

Riku sighed. "Let's just get this over with."

"Okay!"

And with each snip, along with the strands that fell to the floor, he felt lighter and more sure of his decision. Change was good, and he was going to start with this.
