He had never thought about life after death.

He had always assumed he would go to Elysium like all other heroes.

He had never imagined he would go to the Fields of Punishment of all places, but here he was.

He supposed all the blackmailing and threatening he had done over the years wasn't good for his record, but what's done is done, there's no turning back.

It couldn't be that bad, right? He hadn't done anything particularly awful. It wasn't like he killed anyone, right?

As he was flown to the Fields by a Fury, Alecto, a small shard of fear pierced his heart and refused to leave, the madly cackling Fury wasn't really helping.

As the fear started to grow he started furiously thinking of ways out of this. He couldn't have been that bad, right? Everything he had done had been for the good of the Legion. He just had to explain everything and then he would be put in Elysium with the rest of the heroes. He tried his best to convince himself that everything would be fine but a little bit of doubt had wormed its way into his mind and refused to leave.

So he decided to try bribing the Fury into letting him go. Not his best idea. Alecto growled at him ferociously and he may or may not have whimpered.

So he set his brain to finding another course of action, and came up with threatening. Which failed utterly. Turns out that threatening a monster who was carrying you high above the ground was a bad idea.

Blackmailing was useless if you didn't have anything to blackmail them with and fighting was absolutely out of the question. So, with nothing better to do, he started thinking about what punishment he would have to face.

He might be forced to wrestle with a bear for eternity, or listen to horrible opera while running from angry pigs, or. . . Oh no!

His punishment had reached his field of sight. It was beyond cruel. It was horrific. It. . . it was terrifying.

He didn't think it would be this bad, that he would be forced to spend the rest of eternity around his worst fear. They would tear him apart for all of their kind that he had killed.

Surely they weren't that cruel. Maybe that was someone else's punishment, someone who had committed horrendous crimes like murder. Yes, someone like that would deserve it.

His hopes were squashed as Alecto flew closer to the horrifying punishment.

Begging didn't seem like such a bad idea now, maybe throw in a bit of grovelling and pleading and he would be moved into a lesser punishment like Tartarus.

He was about to start his begging when Alecto suddenly dropped him. He yelped as he fell into the field, surrounded by his worst nightmare.

They looked at him with their blank, glassy eyes. Their cute and cuddly looks never fooled him, he knew that they were evil.

How could they do this?

How could they be so cruel as to surround him with his greatest fear?

With teddies.

Octavian opened his mouth and screamed.
