AN: This is the first story/drabble I've posted. I'm not sure it's that good, but I thought I'd share. The great Dr. Pepper.19 beta'd this drabble, my thanks go out to her for her help.
He was salt, Tony had been thinking about it, and he was salt. Salt was salt, it was bitter, harsh; fine or course, it made food taste better. Not to mention it went great with Pepper. The soft clicking of heels coming down the stairs broke Tony out of his reverie.
Pepper slowly made her way down the stairs to his workshop. Tony's workshop was the one place that Pepper wouldn't change, sure she may tidy his desk from time to time, but she would never change it, and for some odd reason today it smells like salt.
Tony tries to pretend that he was actually doing something the entire time. He hasn't gotten anything done in the past half hour, he'd been to busy thinking about salt and Pepper.
"No music today Mr. Stark?" Pepper asks. She had been quite worried when she noticed the lack of music, but as the true professional she is, she kept the worry from her voice.
"Huh? Oh no I've uh, I've got a headache."
"Did you take something for it?"
"No," Tony watches as Pepper pulls a bottle of Tylenol from one of the cabinets, handing him two.
"Take these."
"When did I get a bottle of Tylenol down here?" He inquires.
"You've had a bottle down here for years." Pepper replies, handing Tony a glass of water, the water again reminds her of the smell of salt. "Hey Tony?"
"Yeah Pep."
"Why does it smell like salt down here?"
"Oh that…" Tony didn't know how to answer that question without sounding like a fool. "Well—uhm—You see—uhm."
"Out with it Tony," Pepper's voice broke through Tony's hodge-podge of thoughts.
"I've been working on a water proof version of the suit. You know, in case I ever need to dive 60 feet down for something."
"Okay, but why does it smell like salt?"
"Because the suits are covered in salt."
"Why are the suits covered in salt?"
"Because I needed to make sure that Sea salt wouldn't ruin the paint job."
