Wizardmon Had Never Known

Wizardmon had never known trust until Gatomon.

Wizardmon hadn't known much at all before he'd met Gatomon. He'd amassed a wealth of knowledge, but nothing like what she'd shown him. Kindness. Friendship. Trust. All of them things he couldn't think of going back to face the world without.

But he couldn't encroach himself on Gatomon's kindness forever. The both of them had to move on. Tackle the wider world.

He'd offered to take Gatomon. Gatomon had smiled and refused.

And then she had shown him trust. By explaining why. Explaining she was waiting for someone. Someone she couldn't picture or name. Someone she could only feel in her heart.

Wizardmon had never known his heart until Gatomon.

And now that Gatomon had told him this, given him trust, she seemed sad.

Wizardmon had never felt the urge to take sadness away until Gatomon. And he didn't know how.

'You'll find her,' he said, finally, after deliberating. He had to say something. 'I'm sure you will.'

Gatomon smiled, though she still looked sad. 'Thank you,' she said. 'I hope so too.'

Wizardmon thought she had cheered up a little. But maybe that was just him hoping he'd made a difference.
