Happy Fourth of July Everyone Even Though It Only Matters To Us Americans! And Forget The Fact That I'm Posting This Introductory Chapter On July 5th Not July 4th!
Independence Day gave me an idea for a character I had already been thinking about but now in a different way. As someone that is currently, as of writing this, in the Air Force, I figured what better way to introduce a character that would be in the Air Force like me than to have him go through Basic Training? I will be leaving out pieces of actual training as it gets monotonous and boring to not only read but write. Every chapter will be based on true events from my training as well as stories I hear from other Airmen out of training. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 0- The Arrival
"Everybody grab your stuff and get off the bus. Let's go!"
I jumped a little from the sudden scream from the front of the bus when a woman in her mid-to-late 20s came on the bus. I did as I was told, grabbing the red, cylindrical bag on my lap and slinging the black shoulder strap over my shoulders. As everyone else stood up, I did the same only to be swallowed into a group of rushed, tired bodies hurrying to the entrance of the bus.
It was a dark, starless sky above my head as I stepped off the bus. In front of me was a strange building with a large section of glass spanning from near the top of the ceiling down. Even the doors were made of glass with a single arching beam that cut a bit off through the panel. In front of the building was a sort of welcoming arch with a pointed tip facing outwards and the words "Lackland Air Force Base" on one side and "Gateway to the Air Force" on the other.
My name is Hunter Harper and, starting today, my soul belongs to Uncle Sam.
Wow, that was even shorter than I thought it was going to be. I'll be skipping most of the in-processing information for security reasons as well as it's just boring. If you can't wait for more, give the story a Favorite and a Follow. The more love it gets, the faster I'll release a new chapter! Also, if you have gone through Air Force Basic Military Training and have a funny or dramatic story you'd like to see Hunter go through, shoot me a pm with details of what happened and I'll get to work!
Later Nerds!
