Chapter 1

No Chance.

Down in the chamber, lit only by Electric blue flames, were two dark figures locked in combat. Showers of stars and sparks ricochet off the solid, damp walls, both of them struggling to inflict damage on each other.

"AVADA KEDAVRA" Screeched a deep, looming voice.

The curse missed, but only just. The second figure took cover behind a stone bench contemplating his next move. He dived out from behind the bench, raised his wand and shouted "CRUCIO".

The rival stooped low and avoided the jet of red light where it hit the wall and shook the chamber from floor to ceiling. As the room continued to quake, vast chunks of rock began to fall and shatter on the floor on impact. It was getting dangerous and both challengers were becoming tense.

The first shadowy figure flicked his wand, with the crack of a whip, a beam of green light shot out of the tip. The spell hit. Ropes bound the second figure to a high stone pillar.

"I believe the war is over, I have finally defeated my only enemy." The victor declared calmly.

"On the contrary sir… It has only just begun," replied the deep voice.

The ropes bounding the figure to the pillar began to smoulder and smoke. The fiery bindings became a serpent and began violently hissing at the other figure. The snake reared up from the floor until at eye level with its rival and was poised, ready to strike. Suddenly it lowered its head and sunk its long fangs into his arm. Poison spread slowly through the figure's lump body, white-hot pain searing slowly but steadily from the wound. His vision went foggy as he saw the snake slither away. The other person had disappeared. The room began to spin as a brightly coloured bird flew in and settled by the man's side.

"It's too late Fawlkes, he's won. There's nothing you can do. Go back too the school, get help. Voldemort has won." Whispered the old frail man.

The room began to dissolve, whirling slowly as the brave, courageous headmaster drew his last breath.

Finally the room plunged into darkness as Dumbledore's body became limp and lifeless. He led a hero's life and a heroic demise.
