Ran and Kogoro watched the child in front of them in awe. It was the day after Conan had been allowed to stay in the Mouri home and the two older residents were honestly shocked at what they saw.
"What's he staring at?" Kogoro asked, looking at the wall the child was currently staring at.
"I don't know." Ran said honestly, crouching down beside Conan. The boy was sitting upright with perfect posture in his bed staring blankly ahead, completely unaware that there were two other people in the room with him.
"What should we do?" Kogoro asked nervously.
"Um, Conan-kun?" Ran tried and jumped when the child slowly turned his head towards her. That was creepy. "Time to wake up."
"Hai Okaa-san." the boy mumbled. Slowly, he turned the rest of his body so his legs were outside of the covers and stood up. Once he was standing he swayed dangerously before trudging forward -WHAM!- right into the doorway.
Both the father and daughter winced at the sound but the boy just paused and stared up at the obstruction before turning and walking out of the room. The two looked at each other nervously, waiting for the cry of a pained child, but no sound came. After a moment Kogoro shrugged and left the room, probably to get some coffee, with Ran following him after a moment.

"Conan-kun, do you want eggs and toast for breakfast?" Ran asked cheerfully, pulling out a frying pan. The boy had come into the kitchen a little more aware, though still very bleary with eyes still glazed with sleep.
"...Hai." the boy said staring at the coffeemaker, that was currently doing what it did best and making some coffee. Ran was a little unnerved by the small boy. As soon as he had come into the kitchen he had watched as Kogoro went through the processes of setting up the coffeemaker.
"Do you want some orange juice?" Ran tried.
"...Hai." Conan's voice was dull and listless, completely at odds with the boy she had met the night before. Worried, Ran poured out a cup of the orange liquid and placed it in front of the boy, easily catching his attention. He stared at the cup in confusion, as if he had no idea what the juice was for.
Suddenly, the timer for the coffeemaker went off making Ran jump. Conan, however, did react at all. Kogoro walked into the room, stretching his arms.
"Otou-san, I'm worried." Ran started. "He doesn't react to anything."
"Oh leave him. He'll wake up soon." Kogoro glanced back at the boy in question as he poured himself a cup of coffee. Conan watched the dark liquid greedily as it poured into the ceramic cup. Kogoro looked between the boy and the cup before grinning teasingly. "Do you want a cup, brat?"
"..." Conan stared at the man, nodding slowly.
"Alright." Kogoro shrugged and poured another cup. He set it in front of the boy before leaning back to watch the show. Ran started to protest but stopped at the reverent way Conan lifted the cup and leaned back. He looked just like an old man content with his tea. He took a large sip of the coffee making both of the Mouri's grimace. Kogoro always made his coffee extra strong, a habit left over from working at the police station for so long. When the boy opened his eyes again (he'd closed his eyes?) he was fully awake and smiling his cute little kid grin. After a second he frowned and rubbed his forehead.
"Why does my head hurt?"
