Chapter 1: Enter the Uzumaki Twins
"Ha! My masterpiece is finally complete." Exclaimed a very excited red head as she admired her work standing on the side of the mountain. The faces of the village leaders past and present were now made to look ridiculous thanks to the girl who painted various designs on them. "Now everyone can admire my handiwork." She stated with a wide grin.
From the top of said mountain a blond haired boy of the same age looked down amused at what the red haired girl had done.
"I-isn't M-mito-chan going to get in trouble for this?" Asked a very timid dark haired girl who was also standing next to him.
"Don't worry Hinata. The worst that could happen ojii-san yelling at her for doing something this stupid." He told her. "And she will do something stupid again like a dummy."
His spiky blond hair blew in wind as he turned his head to look at Hinata. She blushed and looked away.
Weird she always did that around him.
"HEY!" The red head yelled having heard his comment and dashed up the mountain. She did a flip near the edge and landed in front of the blond. "It's not stupid it's pure art something you wouldn't know anything about." She growled.
The blond snorted. "Like people would consider a few swirls and squiggly lines art. I bet a black spot on a piece of paper would be more interesting to look at then this."
"Don't mock me Naruto." She hissed between her clenched teeth and her face slowly turned red.
Naruto purposely continued. "What's the point of even, it won't last." He turned away from her with a smirk. "And by the end of the day you'll have to take this eyesore down anyway."
"That's it!" Mito had enough and lunged towards Naruto only for Hinata to step between both of them.
"G-guys please don't fight." She said holding Mito. "We have to get back to class, we're already late and Iruka-sensei will be angry."
"I'm agree you Hinata," The blond nodded. "Let's go Mito." He said already leading Hinata away towards the stairs not even noticing the intense blush on the girl's face.
Mito crossed her arms and huffed. "Why should we even bother, Iruka-sensei is just going to bore us to dead with his lectures." She grumbled.
"Don't say that about sensei when he's standing right behind you." Were Naruto's final as he started descending the stairs.
Mito stiffened then heard someone clear his throat behind her. She slowly turned around to face her academy teacher who didn't look pleased. She swallowed audibly before speaking. "Uh, h-hey Iruka-sensei?" She greeted with a nervous laugh. How did he always manage to sneak up behind her without her noticing.
"Mito Uzumaki, what is the meaning of this. Vandalism? Is this what your suppose to be doing during recess." The man scolded and she felt herself getting smaller. "Weren't you supposed to be in class by now."
"Y-yes sensei, I was just on my way." She stuttered slightly taking a few steps back. She was just about to make an attempt to book it when Iruka grabbed her by the collar of her shirt.
"Hold on little missy. What was that just now about my lectures being boring?" He was the next question her asked at the red head while fuming.
Mito started laughing nervously and pressing her fingers together like a certain shy friend of her. "Well about that..."

After Iruka had returned with Mito he made the whole class perform the Henge no jutsu and transform into him as a punishment for the twins delaying the lessons. A majority of the class started blaming them but Mito made it very clear that she didn't care what they thought.
As usual during the test many girls of her class tried to impress the Sasuke Uchiha the most popular guy in their class much to his and everyone else's annoyance. When their turn came everyone expect Mito and Naruto to mess up or at the least do something completely different which they were both notorious for, one more so than the other. They were however left surprised when both executed the jutsu as ordered.
"That's very odd." Muttered one kid more to himself as he watched the twins do as they were instructed.
"Maybe tomato and dickless finally grew up and started being serious." Said a pale skinned boy.
"Troublesome." The other kid yawned.
After he finished evaluating everyone Iruka addressed the whole class again. "I like to remind all of you that tomorrow is the final exam. If you pass you will join Konoha's shinobi force, fail and you will be send back here another entire year." He told them. "Get enough rest and I will see you all back here tomorrow."
Everybody started to exit the room until only three were left. "Naruto, why did you stay behind?" Iruka asked. The blond shrugged. "There's nothing for me to do at home and I'm not going home with out sister so I might as well help her clean the mess she made." Was his answer. Said girl stuck her tongue at him but smiled no the less.
Iruka smiled, these two were truly inseparable, he thought. "Okay then, let's head out then maybe afterwards I can treat you both to ramen." He promised.
"Really? Alright!", Mito shouted in glee as they made their way out.
XXXX
The next day quickly arrived and every student had their knowledge tested on everything they were taught since they started the academy.
"Now Naruto all you have to do is create 2 clones and you pass." Iruka told the blond standing in front of him. This was the final test each genin had to pass if they wanted to graduate.
Naruto swallowed nervously and nodded. He brought his hands up, formed the seal of the 'ram' and started concentrating. Bunshin no jutsu was always the technique that gave him the most trouble to perform as well as his sister. For reason unknown to them they had chakra reserves bigger then any average genin or chunin. It became a problem for them when trying to perform jutsus that required them to draw only a small amount of chakra like the clone technique.
Basically their chakra control sucked. Thankfully they had a good friend in Hinata who came from a clan where having good chakra control was a top priority. Said girl had shared knowledge with them about her training that could help both improve their own control.
'Okay only two clones, I can do this Mito already passed, even when she barely managed to make 5.' He thought and slowly started to breath in and out to calm himself down. 'Here goes nothing.'
He focused hard and called out "Bunshin no jutsu." He could feel the chakra leave his and take shape.
'Did I do it' He thought afraid too even look behind him. He looked at both his teacher Iruka and his assistant Mizuki to judge by their expressions if he did. Iruka's was serious as he wrote something on a clipboard while Mizuki had a surprised look on his face.
"Naruto." His teacher began. That tone, he failed he just knew it. "You pass." I have to do redo this whole yea- wait, I pass?!
He quickly looked behind him and saw three perfectly solid clones staring back at him and he breathed out in relief. But immediately sweat dropped when he noticed the pale, almost dead looking version of himself next to the others. 'I have to work on that.' He thought as the clones disappeared.
He walked up to Iruka who congratulated him again and gave him a forehead protector and left the room.
"I still can't believe they both passed the clone test. They weren't even able to create a single decent one in the past." Mizuki mumbled out loud.
"Yes well they have certainly grown and improved since they entered the academy 4 years ago." Iruka answered smiling as he watched Naruto from inside the room as he was glomped his sister.
Mizuki had tuned Iruka out and was in his own thoughts. 'This is a set back. Now I have to find another way to have them take the scroll for me.' He thought watching the twins leave the academy and started to formulate another plan.
XXXX
It was now late in the afternoon when both Naruto and Mito were walking down the streets of Konoha, finally making their way home. Earlier that day the two and Hinata had a small celebration at Ichiraku for passing the genin exam. Unfortunately the young Hyuuga couldn't stay for long so they escorted her to her compound. Afterwards the twins went looking for an old friend at her house to show her that they had passed but she wasn't home. They would visit some other time then.
Nothing could really ruin their day right now, not even that annoying person that kept following them ever since they left Ichiraku. Mito who could sense others like second nature but wasn't quite adapt at it and couldn't make out who it was as the person was masking his chakra.
"Hey nii-san." Mito said after awhile her gaze had shifted to the ground.
"Hmm, what is it?" The blond asked as he turned his head towards at her.
"Do- do you think that we will be on the same team together?" She finally asked looking at him. And he could see her eyes, it worried her.
"I- I really don't know. I hope so." He answered her hesitantly. "We'll just have to wait and find out don't we."
"Yeah I guess." He heard his sister sigh.
The person following them from as distance smirked and teleported away.
When arrived at their home located at the least crowded part of Konoha they were surprised to see their teacher there waiting for them outside.
"Mizuki-sensei, what are you doing here?" Naruto was the first ask.
"Good afternoon Mito-chan, Naruto-kun." He greeted children with a smile that made both feel uncomfortable.
XXXX
Later that night at an abandoned cottage in the forest near the village walls Naruto landed next to his sister who sat on a fairly big scroll. "What now?" She asked.
"We wait for Mizuki-sensei to show up." Was his answer.
"Well since were waiting for awhile it wouldn't hurt if we have a peek in this just to pass the time right." She suggested patting the scroll with a wide grin on her face.
"Mito!" Naruto warned shaking his head. "It's called the forbidden scroll for a reason. Those techniques are really dangerous."
"Come on Naru-chan." She whined. "This is probably the only chance we'll ever get to learn some awesome jutsus."
It actually made the blonde ponder before he gave in. "Okay fine but just one." His sister's grin broadened and quickly started to unfold the scroll.
Iruka wanted to know their reason and those were answers only they could give him. 'Why did they do it?' He thought as he leaped from one branch to another branch and landed not far from their location. He saw them both leaning against a tree next to the stolen artifact. They looked tired and exhausted. What were they doing before he arrived he wondered and jumped down to the ground. Ignoring their shocked looks he yelled "What is the meaning of this?"
"I-Iruka-sensei w-what are you doing here?" Asked a surprised Mito.
"I will be asking the questions around." he said sternly. "Now explain yourself. Why did you steal the sacred forbidden scroll!"
The twins didn't know were to begin with their story. "I...we...-uhm" Mito struggled to form words.
"I'm waiting." Iruka impatiently let the know crossing his arms while giving them a stern look.
"This is Mizuki-sensei test. He said that if we were able to take this scroll without getting caught we could be on the same team." Naruto revealed the truth too their teacher.
"Test? What test? Mizuki put you up to this?" Iruka was confused. They nodded. "There no such thing!"
Not to far from them Mizuki stood on a branch looking on how his colleague berated the two. In his hand he held a glass containing a strange red liquid something special he brewed up for this occasion.
'Iruka managed to make it to them before me. That makes things much more difficult.' Then he smirked looking at the glass with the strange fluid. 'Oh well once I drink this I will have enough power to easily dispose of him as well.' He thought and drank the content of the glass and tossed it away.
At first nothing seemed to happen then suddenly his whole body pulsed then in seconds he grew muscular to the point where his clothes started to tear. His appearance also changed drastically as he now looked like a human-tiger hybrid. Mizuki grinned menacingly as he felt his power increase and reached for one of the shurikens he brought for this occasion. Something that did caught his now keen eyes was Mito tensing up and looking in his direction with wide eyes.
So she could sense him quickly figured and he started rotating the giant throwing star until it gained enough velocity and threw it towards the trio. He watched amusingly as Iruka pushed both children out of the way and took a cut in his side.
"Iruka-sensei!" They yelled simultaneously and ran towards their teacher who had his hands on his bleeding side.
"You shouldn't have come here Iruka." They heard a loud growling voice followed by a tiger human landing in front of them. "Now I will have to kill you as well." Both kids and Iruka shocked and wide-eyed.
"M-mizuki, is that you?" Iruka asked in disbelieve.
Mizuki grinned showing his sharp fangs. "You like it? I was actually going to use this form to end these Uzumakis and take the forbidden scroll but I didn't count on you showing up." He smirked at the two. "Great job retrieving the scroll for me." He thanked them. "But now it's time for you all to die." He said eyeing them like a predator would his next prey. "Starting with you." His eyes landed on Mito first who tensed even more in fear at his terrifying gaze.
"That's not happening Mizuki!" Naruto stated stepping protectively in front of her.
The tiger man let out a roaring laughter. "Do you seriously think you can take me like this?" He asked spreading his arms wide.
"Just watch me!" Naruto said forming a cross hand seal. "Kage bunshin no jutsu." He exclaimed and several puffs of smoke filled the clearing and there now stood 20 more blonds around Mizuki."
"Bwahahahaha do you think a few clones can stop me. Even if they are real, well sadly you're mistaken." The tiger man roared and lunged towards the group of blond clones and started to tear through each and every one them.
"Hahaha is that all you can throw at me." He laughed when he finished until his gaze landed on nothing. 'They'd managed to slip away.' He thought with a smirk. Like the animal he had become he started sniffing in the air and grinned when he caught onto their scent. They were heading back to the village but they wouldn't be arriving. With surprising speed went in pursuit off them.
"Faster! The sooner we get to the village the saver we'll be." Iruka commanded his two students as they raced through the trees. He had taken the scroll in one hand while with his other hand kept applying pressure to the wound, wincing ever so slightly everytime he landed on a branch from the strain if put on him.
"Were... trying." Mito responded between shallow breaths. Earlier in the evening they had spend their time trying to master some jutsu from the scroll and now exhaustion had finally caught up with her first. Naruto was fairing a lot better at the moment having more stamina and all but even he would soon reach his limits.
There was still a great distance they had to go through the forest before they reached the village, hopefully before he caught up with them.
Suddenly Mito's senses went haywire followed by them hearing Mizuki's maniacal laughter behind them. It frightened her.
"This guy." She heard Naruto growl. He cast a look a her and smiled genuinely. It was his of reassuring that he would let no harm befall her, he always did that when they ever got in trouble.
She could at least do something instead of having him save her all the time. Crossing her fingers she created a single clone who stayed behind as they continued to escape. She could at least use that jutsu she managed to memorised from the scroll. She had yet too try it out cause it seemed so dangerous but this was a good time as any. She only hoped it would at least be enough to slow Mizuki down.
"Another useless attempt!" Mizuki roared at the scowling clone that came at him. The tiger-man launched himself forward faster and with his clawed hand dug into at the clone's torso. He did not expecting the clone to start glowing upon striking it followed by
BOOOOOOOOM!
A tremendous explosion rocked the forest, surrounding destroying a good portion of the surrounding trees. Mizuki was send flying back by the force off the blast creating a deep crater where he fell.
If it wasn't for the situation they were in Iruka would have praised his students for pulling off 2 high ranked techniques but it wasn't the time for that. Right now he wanted them to make it out alive first and he hoped the explosion at least alerted the other search parties who could come to their aid. Looking at the two exhausted kids he hoped it was soon.
Back at the crater Mizuki rose out of the hole with the fur on his body burned in several spot his eyes were now completely white with fury and he let out a powerful roar. Those two had sealed their own fate their deaths would be slow and very painful and would enjoy every second of it. In second he was gone pushing his body to the limits and moved faster then before which allowed him to quickly caught up with them. The frightened looks they all shared when he closed in on them, he loved it.
Iruka was the first he knocked out of the away and followed up by tackling Naruto in mid air and went crashing with him into the ground.
Mizuki could hear Mito cry out to her brother but he didn't care, he'd take care of he soon enough. Turning his attention back to the blond he grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and lifted him up into the air. The boy was barely concessions at the moment.
"Put him down." Mito yelled jumping straight down behind Mizuki, fresh tears escaping her eyes as well. The tiger-man turned around and with a strong arm threw her brother straight into her. Both went flying backward and slammed into a tree with a loud smack, Mito let out a pained scream as she felt the most from the impact.
"Hn as much as I despise this village I'm actually doing them a favor killing you two." Mizuki snarled walking over to them. "Who knows I might even be praised for getting rid of the Kyuubi containers."
"Mizuki!" Iruka appeared stumbling towards the man. He was holding onto his arm now which got dislocated when he got knocked away. "You know it's forbidden to speak about it."
"You're still alive Iruka?" The teacher glared at his former colleague. "What does a stupid law matter when you won't live to tell that I broke it." He bend down and roughly grabbed the twins by their necks and held them up. "And besides these two can at least know why the people in village hated them all this time." He said with a sadist look in his eyes as he started choking both siblings. "Even you hated them didn't you. I still remember the that look you had in your eyes when they first joined the academy, you distaste for them was clear. But you changed it's like you forgot they carry the fox that killed your parents inside of them."
"I-i never-" Iruka whispered looking down in shame. Mizuki was indeed right. He couldn't stand seeing them in the past all because they carried the demon that almost destroyed the village long ago and left him an orphan. But that changed the more he interacted with them and got to know them day by day. And they reminded him more of his younger self. All the times he was alone, lost and looking for acknowledgment.
"Sen- sei" He heard Naruto whisper as they fought to remove Mizuki's hand around his neck only let to Mizuki squeezing harder.
"Mizuki stop this." Iruka yelled but felt powerless to do anything in this situation.
Naruto's vision grew darker with every passing second and he didn't have the strength to fight back anymore. Mito had also stopped fighting in attempt to break free. She was tired and had given up, her hands dropping to her sides was enough of an sign for that. Naruto tried casting a final look at her through his slowly fading vision with time almost seemingly slowing down as well, she stared back at him. Life draining from her eyes, his sister that he failed to protect even after the promises he made. He would take handle anyone who threatened her in anyway.
'Kyuubi...' His final thought went to the fox of whom they learned was the reason the for all their suffering. His eyes were to heavy and finally closed.

Mito was very tired as she stared back at her brother. Her final thoughts was her thinking how he was always there for her, protecting and taking care of her ever since they lived on their own. He would stand up for her in every bad situation and would sometimes even take the blame for her. She hated it because it made her feel weak, like she was this burden on him but he never seem to mind. Always saying that it was his duty as the oldest. That's why she promised herself that she wouldn't be leaving it all to him anymore, she would show him she could take care of herself. Something she would never be able to proof it seemed.
She saw his eyes close, tears escaped her own eyes as they closed as well.

Mizuki smirk grew as he felt the twins go limb in his hands and let out a roaring laughter.
Iruka stood horrified having just witness his two students life end before him and he didn't do anything.
"Well Iruka." Mizuki began turning around dropping the Uzumakis limb bodies to the ground. Hearing his name being called send chills down the academy teacher's spine.
"Konoha shinobi's are heading this way." Mizuki grabbed the teacher by his jacket. "Now your going too show me where you hid that scroll."
"N-no, I would never!" Iruka said steely. "I'd rather die!" He spat.
The tiger man growled. "I wasn't planning on letting you live anyway. Now tell me were it is!" He roared in anger while raising a clawed hand ready to kill the man.
Iruka refused to answer, he had already accepted his fate after what just occurred, he didn't feel like he deserved to live if he couldn't save his own students.
Mizuki patience finally growing thin and decided to just end the man right now, the longer he wasted time here the sooner Konoha forces would arrive and he wasn't planning on getting caught.
As he raised his clawed hand to strike Iruka however a sudden immense chakra spike made him freeze. Both men eyes grew wide when they recognised what I could be. It brought them back 12 years to that day when the village was under attack. The terror and hopelessness they felt when it attacked, those feelings all returned.
A blue chain suddenly wrapped around Mizuki's raised arm which was followed by him being jacked away dropping Iruka in the process. He found himself being send flying through several trees before the chain disappeared.
Iruka gulped when he now saw both Naruto and Mito... alive but they were visibly different. Both of them were covered in an intense red chakra aura that radiated immense power mixed with anger and hatred all directed towards on person.
The two pairs of emotionless red eyes lingered on him for a second before the two young children ran off without a word. Iruka was speechless as he watched them disappear and it took a few seconds before snapped out of stunned state. Just then multiple cloaked figures landed around him catching him completely off guard. ANBU had arrived and he let out a sigh of relief but concern took again took him over again when thought of the Uzumakis and the state they were in.
As soon as they appeared in front of him he attacked both. He wasn't about to let himself to be humiliated by these two. Unfortunately that was harder then he first anticipated, they moved faster then before, way fast and he couldn't get a single hit on them while they struck him every time he missed and it pissed him off.
"Stand still you brats!" He missed again and they got more hits on him.
He moved away from them breathing very heavily while glaring at the twins who didn't even look the least bit tired.
The red chakra that covered Mito's hands started to intensify and golden chains were created within seconds. Naruto raised one hand towards the man and a giant red clawed extended from cloak to hold Mizuki in place. Mizuki hissed as the chakra burned at his skin. Mito then proceed to control her chains to wrap tightly around Mizuki's form.
"You think this will hold me, demon." He roared at them while attempting to break the chains only for them tighten even further.
"Don't bother." Naruto growled booming voice that wasn't his own.
ANBU arrive on the scene lead by the Hokage himself.
Red eyes shifted around at the newcomers who kept their distance from them. The Hokage was the first who tried approaching them slowly. "Naruto, Mito..." He addressed them in that same grandfatherly tone he always had.
Without a single word their auras suddenly dissipated and their appearance returned to normal. Their eyes closed and they fell unconscious onto the forest floor.
