The captain rubbed his eyes. It had been a long shift, the weather had been stormy, but the ship was out of the worst now. He glanced at the GPS that slowly counted down the distance to the port town in Florida, and started instructing the relieving officer: "We will reach land in.."The captain blinked. Was he that exhausted already? Was the GPS broken?

"Captain...what is THAT?" The officer's voice was shocked. She quickly recovered: "We are off the course!" The experienced captain, remembering the horror stories about this area, reached quickly for the radio to send the emergency message...and froze.

The view ahead made him completely speechless. A chill ran up his back as he saw the ocean disappear far under the ship. Slowly advancing, across the starry blackness, shone an impossible coast from where the horizon should have been. At last, they knew the truth behind the stories.
