Rainbow Shoes

"I thought we had those monstrosities destroyed." He commented, rather crudely. Rolling her eyes to his comment, Ginny glanced down to the pair of worn out gym shoes on her feet. She couldn't help it, she loved them. Yes, so the laces were fraying and the rubber was flat, tread pattern completely worn down. But she couldn't help herself. The shoes had been a one-of-a-kind find, they were rainbow and covered her ankles, they were beautiful in all their trashy glory.

"Why in Merlin's name would I ever allow you to touch my shoes to preform such cruel acts on them?"

"Because I can buy you new shoes, love. Better shoes that aren't falling apart and painted in such a... a... plebeian pattern."

Huffing softly, Ginny stood and walked so she was face to face with the tall blonde man she was so fed up with. The man she was so stupidly in love with. The prat who had captured her heart and walked away with it in hand, laughing as he went.

He glanced down and she knew he was judging her outfit, but it wasn't her fault. No matter how many gorgeous clothes he bought her, how many fancy outfits and stylish shoes, she always seemed to disappoint him by retreating to low hanging sweat pants and a tanktop that didn't cover her midriff. She was comfortable and happy and he couldn't seem to get that.

"Fine then."

"Fine."

"Alright."

"So, you're getting rid of the shoes then?"

"Not on your life."

And with a soft laugh she stepped back, voice trickling out in a soft song, dancing as she turned and skipped off back towards the bedroom.

Watching her retreating back, the cold, unfeeling blonde couldn't help but shake his head. He didn't know why he loved her and he couldn't place why the image of her refused to dance its way out of her mind but as he thought about her his lips curled slowly and he smiled.

Ah, and there was his reason, resting softly upon his lips.
