Mattes shoved his hands in his pockets. Clary crossed her arms.
Mattes knew not to break eye contact with her, not now, not when she was like this.
Clary knew not to let Mattes think that playing "who blinks first?" was going to let him off the hook.
Mattes tried his ace in the hole.
"But Clary, it followed me home."
