Writers Note: Well, this is going to be interesting. My first real pairing fic and it's my birthday gift to a true friend. And, being the gift that keeps on giving, this is just the first chapter and there will be more. As always, please give me feedback in the reviews, only this time please stick to my portrayal of this couple. I'm new to writing this sort of thing, so I'll give it my all. Thanks!
The time? Several days after the EnerD Reactor incident. The storm had calmed, and lives were finally returning to peace. The Dark Signers had come back, every one shocked and grateful to to learn what they'd done, but grateful to have another chance. All of the five left with a changed heart, their minds feeling lighter, no longer burdened by as much. Some, like Grieger, left happy to know their home would be safe to return to. Others, like Misty, slowly returned to their own life, trying to ignore the whole experience happened. And then, there was Carly Carmine. Her time as a Dark Signer was one that pushed her relationship with Jack to the extreme, as she heard him scream just how desperate he was to save her. But then? She loses her memories, like everyone else. It left her baffled at how much had happened, but what she didn't know was how much it all meant to Jack...
Our story begins in Jack Atlas' house, where the owner had just been finishing up taking a shower. Jack finished drying himself off, as the phone beeped loudly at him. Towel around his waist, he went to pick it up.
"What is it?" Jack asked into the mouthpiece, somewhat annoyed to be disturbed.
"Jack, I need your help over here, man." Yusei's voice, panting between words answered back.
"Yusei, what's going on? Is someone in trouble?" Jack asked again, his concern rising slowly.
"Jack... It's.... It's... Carly..." Yusei, got out barely.
"Wait a moment, what's wrong with Carly? Is she alright? Tell me!?" Jack gripped the phone, his annoyance blending with his concern to form frustration at Yusei.
"Jack... it's been days... and yet she still hasn't stopped asking me about what happened when she was a dark signer..." Yusei finished.
Jack's tension eased the second he heard Carly wasn't in danger, but he was still very annoyed. "And just what do you expect me to do about it?"
"I need you to take over for me. Please. I'm trying to finish repairing our duel runners, but I can hardly concentrate with her." Yusei said, a little desperation escaping his throat.
Jack closed his eyes, lowered his head and shook it side to side. "Of course. I'll tell you what, send her along to the Duel Cafe, I'll be there waiting for her."
"Thanks, man. By the way, me and Crow were discussing a project for us to take over, thought you might be interested." Yusei added, who himself was standing next to the latest failed engine he and Crow had tried to make. "
"I'll give it a thought." Jack said promptly before hanging up.
Yusei grinned. "I'll take that as a yes. Hey! Carly!"
"Yeah?" Carmine answered, poking her head into the room.
"You've got a date." Yusei said, returning to his work.
Carly had no idea what he could even mean.
