KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PIE

Dean stared at the apple pie sitting in front of him. Drool pooled in his mouth as he imagined sinking his teeth into the buttery, crisp pastry and oozy sweet filling. Smiling, he dragged the pie toward him.
"Ooohhh, c'mere, baby. Come to Papa." He quickly cut the pie into quarters and scooped an oversized piece onto the waiting plate. He immediately forked a still-warm bite into his mouth.
"Dean!" Sam burst into the kitchen. "Dean, I found..."
"Go 'way," Dean mumbled around his mouthful of confection. "I'm eating pie."
"Hey, you gonna share?"
"No."
"But..."
"No."
Sam pulled out a chair and sat. "It looks really good." He reached out a finger intending to swipe a taste of the sticky filling.
Dean growled and moved the pie out of Sam's reach.
"Ah, c'mon, Dean," Sam pleaded. "I'm starving!"
Glancing up to see Sam's puppy eyes, Dean sighed. "Fine. You can have one piece. One! The rest is mine."
Sam grabbed a plate and scooped up the reluctantly offered pie. "Looks awesome!"
"'Course it's awesome; I made it." Dean's helping was rapidly disappearing from his plate.
After a couple of bites, Sam paused. "You know, I think it needs something."
"What?! No way! I followed the recipe. It's perfect!"
"Nope, it needs something!" Sam declared, jumping to his feet. He trotted to the refrigerator and opened the freezer compartment. He held up a container, beaming. "Vanilla ice cream!" "Pie a la mode!" He returned to the table and added generous scoops of ice cream to his and Dean's desserts.
After one bite, Dean groaned in pleasure. "Not a bad idea at all." Dean gestured toward the pie with his fork. "Just for that, you can have that other quarter."
