Chapter 1 – New Home
My name is Isabella Maria Swan, I live in Arizona with my mom and her new husband Phil. I am seventeen years old and am not a normal person. "Bella, hurry!" Renee yells from downstairs. At the moment am going to my father's hometown Forks, this little town in Washington. "Honey, you are going to be late," she says as she places my last bag in the trunk of her car. As we drove towards the airport, I looked out the window, watching my home disappear behind me. I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat as I stepped into the plane.
My mom needed time with her new husband and leaving seemed to be the best option for all three of us. I couldn't risk her and Phil's safety any longer. Living with her has been equivalent to living with roommates, so saying goodbye to her was painful.
"Bella, you know you don't have to leave," she said with sadness in her eyes. "I know I don't have to mom, but I think it's time I lived with dad. He's been alone for too long and you need some alone time with Phil." My mom had married my dad, Charlie right after high school and she ended up pregnant with me. One day she decided that small town life was not meant for her and she took me leaving him alone in that town. I used to visit him during school breaks but once I became 12, I stopped going to see him.
As soon as I stepped off the plane, the severity of the situation finally dawned on me. I could feel myself shaking with the need to run and hide. I couldn't help but think about the upcoming months, a new school, living with someone new, having to deal with making friends and keeping my secret a secret. It wasn't difficult to spot my dad, considering he was wearing his police uniform. My dad and I are very similar, we both are quite and don't display our emotions very easily. "Hi dad." I smiled at him as I approached.
"Hey Kiddo, you have changed so much," he said as he engulfed me in a hug leading me out to the front where he had parked the cruiser. As we drove towards the house, Charlie informed me that my car and bike should be arriving by the end of the week, which means that I would have to find another means of transportation until then. Once we arrived at the house, I turned to peer at the dark glooming forest, feeling the desire to let the darkness consume me but it seems that I would have to wait until I settled in. "Welcome home kid." Charlie said looking at me with a strange glint in his eyes.
As I looked around the small living room it felt strange being here, seeing all of the family photos on the walls, nothing seemed to have changed and it made me realize just how much Charlie loved Renee. Once we reached my room, Charlie left me to settle in on my own. As I looked around the small room, I noticed that Charlie had bought some new things and it's not that I am not grateful, but it just reminded me how much me being here means to him.
I knew that I wouldn't be able to get much sleep tonight, so I decided to unpack and organize the room a little more. As I looked around my new room, I took in the new surrounding as one thought passed through my mind, "No matter what happens, I will not let myself lose control."
