Dance with Me to Our Song

He couldn't stop listening to it.

He played it over, and over, and over again, not turning it off unless it was completely necessary. When it wasn't playing, he was listening to it in his head. He couldn't escape it; and quite frankly, he didn't really want to.

Honestly, he thought he would have outplayed it by now. It should be getting old soon, he kept telling himself.

But it never did.

It was his favorite song; the only song that he could listen to millions of times without growing sick of it.

Only because it reminded him of Sasuke.

He would dance around his room, pretending he was dancing with his ex-lover, getting lost in the music every time. It was his favorite thing to do. He liked nothing more.

It was July 22.

It was also the first time Naruto had willingly turned off that song.

He walked over to his bedside table, switched off the music, and picked up the dusty old photo of early team 7. Using his thumb, he wiped some dust off of the glass covering his raven-haired ex-teammate's face.

"It's been a year, Sasuke," he whispered mournfully to the photograph. "Tomorrow you'll be eighteen, you know."

He laughed sadly as a single tear dropped onto the dusty glass. "And look, Sasuke – I'm still crying over you." He sighed. "I've finally given up."

For the past year, the blond had been hoping that Sasuke would just come home, saying he had at last killed Itachi, but he'd never come back. Now, he believed that Sasuke wouldn't ever come back. It had been a miracle that he had returned from Orochimaru's in the first place, and Naruto kept believing that his lover would return home from wherever he had run off to on his 17th birthday.

"It's too bad you gave up, dobe. If I leave again now, I have no idea what I'll do."

Naruto's eyes widened as he dropped the framed photograph he was holding. Things seemed to be going in slow motion as the frame hit the ground, and the glass cracked. He spun around, only to be face to face with the one and only Uchiha heir.

"S-Sasuke? W-what are you - !?"

"He's dead," the raven interrupted. "I told you I'd come back."

He turned his head to look over to the radio. Quickly changing the subject before Naruto could ask more, he said, "Why'd you turn off that song, koibito? I love that song, you know."

He sauntered over to the boom box and pressed the 'play' button, Naruto still stunned that his lover had finally returned. "Sa… Sasu…-"

"Dance with me, Naruto?"

Naruto's shocked expression melted into happiness when he heard the raven say the very thing he had been hoping to here him say for an entire year. He walked over to where Sasuke was standing, and took his hand.

Pulling Naruto closer to him, so that their bodies were pressed together, Sasuke whispered, "Dance with me, Naruto, to our song."

You have no idea how much I really don't feel like writing right now.

But I am anyway, because I'd rather be writing than studying for finals. Good news is, though, I got my French and my history final back, and I got a 97.5 percent on my French, and a 93 percent on my history. I just took my English today, I have science tomorrow, then math, and then I'm done.

Yay! School's almost over!

Okay, whatever.

Review, damn it.

Ja.
