(Taken place at the end of episode "The Ultimate Clash")
The digidestined were all in the forest as the flashback ended. They understood why they were chosen as the digidestined. Matt looked at his crest. The crest which he thought he truly didn't deserve.
Out of all people. Matt Thought. Why do I get the crest of friendship?
You walked out

Matt turned to the digidestined and told them his plan of leaving.
Tai looked to the ground, hurt, slowly realizing the fact that Matt is doing this not just for himself, but for the team. Is going our seperate ways the right thing to do? Tai thought to himself. For once, I don't know what to say.
It must have been good

Matt turned his head to the group, all nodding their heads and faking smiles.
"I know you guys are dissapointed", he said looking at the ground. "But this is something I have to do"
Gatomon nodded her head and said "If you guys truly are the digi destined, the place you end up in is the same"

Tai looked at Matt with a concerned face, waiting for him to change his mind. He hated to admit it, but Gatomon was right. As Matt left, the heartbroken Mimi watches Matt leave, as the rest of the digidestined continued walking. "Wait!" She said. "I'm not going." Silnce Crept over them. "Then, neither am I", Joe finished.
At that moment, everyone's hope was hanging on by a string, but they decided it was for the best.
Then, they went their seperate ways.

(Scene changes to the end of episode "Crest Of Friendship")
Tai lays there with scars and bruises. He turned his head to the hurt Waregreymon. Piedmon is a hard opponent.
As Izzy offers to help, Tai refuses, acknowledging the fact that Izzy's digimon was not even a mega. Tai knew that the only one who could help was Matt.
I fell back down
But I'm sure you still care
Tai turned his head, not wanting to face the truth that they were being beaten.
I hope Matt gets here soon.. He thought. No. I know he'll be here soon.
