The summer before our seventh year was hectic. I had gotten a letter and I was Head Girl. Mrs. Weasely was so proud of me, she insisted that we have a celebration but I didn't want or need that.
"Come on Darling," Mrs. Weasely pleaded. "You deserve something special for being Head Girl."
"I am sorry Mrs. Weasely," I said. "I just want something simple like going out with Harry and Ron. Maybe tomorrow you can just make a cake for dessert. I don't want anything huge."
Mrs. Weasely nodded and went to tend to her garden. I couldn't help feeling guilty. I loved her like a daughter could love a mother. My mother killed herself and my father died in prison.
Mrs. Weasely helped me and I saw the Weasley's like my new family. I had moved into The Burrow and I shared a room with Ginny. Mr. Weasely expanded the room for us and the twins were so mad because they had to live together for years but they never got an expansion.
When Ginny and I eavesdropped on that conversation, we burst out laughing.
I went up to Ron's room. Harry and Ron weren't there. I had a crush on Ron but I didn't want to do anything about it.
I looked out the window and there they were, playing quidditch n the field. I went down to them.
"Do you guys want to go out tonight," I shouted. I was afraid of getting hit by one of their balls. "I got Head Girl!" I said.
The boys stopped playing and ran up to hug me.
"Congrats 'Mione," Harry and Ron said.
When Ron came up to hug me, my heart fluttered.
"Where do you want to go?" Harry asked.
"I was thinking that we go to The Bistro," I said.
The boys nodded and went inside to shower.
The Bistro was my favorite restaurant/cafe. It had a little coffee hop on one side and I nice little dining area as the restaurant.
I went inside to change and made a note to call The Bistro in advance. They weren't normally too busy but I wasn't going to assume that there would be an open spot.
When the boys came down, we apparated to the restaurant. It was then that I remembered that I had to call in advance. I groaned inwardly.
We stepped into the restaurant and sure enough, it was full. I was negotiating with the host. We couldn't get a spot for another hour.
"There is an open spot right there," I said.
"It is reserved for someone important," the host said.
I continued pleading but she wouldn't budge. I sighed and went back to the boys.
Fifteen minutes in, the door opened. Draco Malfoy stepped in. He had cleaned up well. He talked with the host and she left to get a table ready.
He looked over at us and smiled.
"Hey, guys, what are you doing here?" Draco asked.
Ron fumed when he saw Draco.
"Why are you being so nice to us?" Ron snapped.
Before any duels could happen, I budged in.
"I got Head Girl so we were celebrating but I forgot to call and we don't have a table," I said.
Draco paused and had a looked off into space.
"Why don't you have dinner with me?" Draco asked. "I got Head Boy and was about to celebrate on my own."
Harry accepted before I could. I smiled. Harry was making an effort to be friends with Malfoy. That would be good. Ron didn't look too happy but he looped his arm with mine and we went to Draco's table.
We were able to get through dinner without anyone killing each other. Draco was fascinating.
In the end, Draco paid and Harry and Ron apparated back before me.
"So, Head Boy," I said.
"Yeah," Draco replied.
"I think that we need a truce," I said.
Draco nodded and left. I walked to the cafe and got a coffee before apparating back to The Burrow.
