Aeneis stared outside the window into the green-black depths of the Hogwarts Lake.
Why on earth would the Sorting Hat put a girl afraid of deep water in Slytherin!?
Damned sadistic piece of apparel!
She was convinced the wretched thing had never visited the House's common room, else it would have known.
Maybe between its seams and folds the artifact was simply evil. There was absolutely no reason why she should have been landed in the House of the Serpent.
She looked around. She did so not belong in there.
Her mom had been a Ravenclaw, her grandparents had been Ravenclaws, hell, she was even sure that, if not because he was Muggle, her dad would have been a Ravenclaw too!
Her damned name was a testimony to her heritage!
But it could have been worse, she told herself.
She could have been put in Hufflepuff.
It wasn't that she had something against them, but everything about her screamed Hufflepuff, and her mother had been disappointed on her older daughter's fate before the ceremony had even started. They all knew she wouldn't be landed in Ravenclaw, but Aeneis could always hope…
She was thankful for not being in the Golden House because it would have been proving them all right.
…
But Slytherin!?
Even Gryffindor would have been less intimidating!
She looked at her notebook, seeing the few written words she had scribbled to remind herself of important stuff. First of all, these two week's password: willkommen, which she knew meant 'welcome' in German. Pretentious much?
Then there were four very scary little words. 'The Seed of Greatness." In theory what every Slytherin should possess.
Aeneis sighed.
The Hat needed to be serviced, of that she was sure.
