Captivating
Author's Note: Working on next part of Amazing, but this has been stuck in my head since the Season 3 DVD Release. It is a missing scene from 3X03 The Last Thing You Should Do. A little bonus for the weekend!
Lena poured some more scotch in their cups and surveyed Annie.
"So, you and Anderson slept together? I thought you were just 'friends'?" she used air quotes.
Annie choked a little on her drink.
"Auggie and I have never slept together, we are just friends," she tried to make it sound like that was all she wanted.
"You were quick to point out the location of his tattoo," Lena shrugged in her constantly laissez faire way.
"It's a big tattoo, pretty hard to miss," Annie tried not to remember the first time she saw it when Auggie saved her from being made at the farm, when he called her Sugar Plum and implied they had slept together to her instructor.
"Auggie is pretty hard to miss, you have to admit he's a good looking guy," Lena was baiting her now and she knew it.
"Good looking is kind of selling Auggie short," Annie replied honestly.
"You care about him, it was obvious today. When Joan admitted you knew him better than she did, I could see that hurt her to admit, but I could also see the pride in your eyes. You love him Annie," Lena leaned forward on her crossed arms.
"He's my friend, he was in danger," Annie kept her words short.
"This is very dangerous Annie, you cannot let your feelings for Auggie affect your mission with Simon. You must be willing to give yourself to Simon, completely, he is too smart to be fooled by a girl hung up on her hot friend back home. You need to distance yourself from Anderson, he'll hold you back," Lena finished her drink and stood.
"I can compartmentalize my feelings," Annie gave the standard company line.
"Can you? If Auggie asked you not to sleep with Simon, what would you do?"
"Auggie is marrying another woman, he has no right to tell me who I can and can't sleep with," Annie hated the jealousy in her voice.
"You didn't actually answer my question Annie. If Auggie walked in here right now and said don't, what would you say?"
"That this is my job," she said simply and tossed her empty cup in the trash before walking away.
The End
