Awakenings...
SGA/Serenity (Firefly) Crossover.. Prologue
PROLOGUE
"Where in gorram hell are we?" asked the hired crewman, Jayne Cobb. He'd took this job six years ago and it had been nothin but trouble time and time again. He looked around at his teammates with undisguised disgust.
"I don't rightly know. But we've gotta set her down for repairs and this place looks as inviting as any," replied the Captain, Malcolm Reynolds. Mal to his friends... and a few enemies. "Kaylee said Serenity is busted and we've already been limping along bout a week now without any sign of civilization." He waved his arm towards the ship's front bay windows as he continued, "So this will just have to do. Let's just hope these folks are a might bit friendlier then the last."
"Not to protest or anything, but what if they start firing on our ship? They haven't responded to any of my hails," questioned the ship's pilot, Wash.
"Sir, I don't like this. We haven't spotted any movement down there and they aren't answering," agreed Wash's wife, Zoe.
"Place looks dead Captain," interjected the ship's engineer, Kaylee.
"But beautiful," said Inara, a registered companion. "Whoever lived here appears to have been a very advanced society. The towers are works of art. I've never seen anything like this even in the museums of Earth that once was. I wonder what happened to the people."
"Well I don't rightly care what happened to the people. If we're lucky, there won't be anyone home and we can stock up on a few items that we seem to be in short supply of. We need a place and this one looks promising. If the Alliance hadn't taken such offense at that broadcast, then we would still be in our own galaxy. Instead we are out here without a safety net," grumbled Mal. He turned to the helm and ordered, "Wash. Land on that pier. Looks stable enough."
Wash's eyebrows climbed and he and Zoe exchanged a look of concern before he replied, "Yes, Sir. I just hope they don't decide that we're intruders." He punched in the commands to take the ship into the planet's lower atmosphere. With Serenity on the fritz, he'd have to make a manual landing.
Mal turned to head out, calling as he went, "Zoe, Jayne gear up. You're with me. Kaylee get the Doc to prepare the infirmary... just in case. Rest of ya' hang tight till we give the all clear." He swiftly headed out the room not waiting to see if his orders were being followed. He knew his crew wouldn't let him down.
Everyone was so pre-occupied with their duties that they failed to notice the young woman with her face pressed up against a side portal looking down at the city with wondrous awe. She breathed out, "Atlantis."
To Be Continued eventually, not really a high priority
