A small bird perched carefully on one of his long deadly fingers. He turned to it and smiled. "I've gotten better, don't you think? I should go see them." The bird flew up and landed on top of a mirror. Edward, too, went to the mirror. He did not look as we remember. His skin was still pale, but not sickly, and it had grown smooth. His hair was neatly cut and brushed down in an almost emo-like fashion. Edward smiled "I'm different now" he said, holding his finger out to the bird. The bird hopped on happily. "I think they'd be happy to see me, don't you?" the bird seemed to nod. Edward smiled again. "Good, then I guess I'll be off" the bird tweeted and flew back to its nest in the rafters. "Oh do come visit Pavarotti, they'd love you."
Edward left immediately for Suburbia. The pastel houses sitting pleasantly below made Edward a bit leery to continue, but he was convinced things would go fine.
'The hedges are rather… square' thought Edward as he strolled casually down the street. He shrugged and continued.
As he came to the blue house he so clearly remembered a car pulled in. A sleek, black car. Out stepped Kim… and someone else. A tall thin man, with black hair, dressed all in black. "Nice look" said the man, completely honestly. "Where'd you get those clothes?"
Kim turned around and her eyes widened "Edward?"
"Hi, Kim.." he replied, waving. The man with Kim gawked slightly.
"Dude, hardcore.."
Kim looked at the man, and back at Edward. "Oh, Edward, this is Jacob"
Edward frowned. He knew he was her boyfriend. He felt, for a moment, like he'd come back for nothing. Jacob approached him. "Edward, huh? I've heard a lot about you." He smiled and held out his hand.
"I, uh… can't" replied Edward, showing his hands once again to Jacob.
"Sure you can" Jacob pulled the glove off his hand, revealing that his entire hand was fake. Edward smiled and shook it.
