A/N: Written for the Gift theme on the Jellicle Moon drabble contest.

Munkustrap struggled to the top of the hill with the oak tree. It was their special meeting place ever since they first fell in love all those years ago. Demeter was already there of course, waiting under the shady oak as always.

"Sorry," he started, panting. "I would have met you here yesterday, but it was raining needless to say." Once he caught his breath he reached into his collar and pulled out a small package.

"It's not much, and I know you always say I don't have to get you anything, but when I saw it, it reminded me of you so much, I just had to." He gently unfolded the paper wrapping to reveal a small polished stone, a brilliant shade of green. "Just like your eyes," he said looking down at the stone between his paws.

He sighed. "Well, happy birthday dear," he whispered and placed the stone down by the larger rock marking the grave of his beloved.
