He turned to look at her one last time. His eyes, liquid pools of mercury, absorbing her every detail from head to toe. She looked even more beautiful tonight, which is probably why it upset him so much. He had to grind his teeth and bare it. Of course, he was sure maybe once or twice he managed to really get under her skin but never, not once, had he even heard of a rumor that he had made her cry. This is what upset him. That git was supposed to be one if her best mate's, so why in the world would he make her cry like that? Speaking of git's, wouldn't this be a nice time for her date to show up? He scanned his surroundings. There wasn't anyone of any real big importance around. He took out his wand and muttered under his breath making a single white rose in full bloom appear next to the weeping girl.
"Well hello there Draco." An airy voice greeted behind him.
Draco jumped. Did she see what he had done?
"Lovegood. How are you?" He asked as a distraction.
"Very well, thank you sir, but the nargles woke me up so I decided to go for a walk. Did you enjoy yourself at the Yule Ball?"
"I guess you could say that. I'm actually a bit tired so if you'll excuse me." Draco said, avoiding eye contact with the girl.
Draco left before seeing the surprised look on Hermione's face when she went to wipe the tears away from her face but noticed the gift, forgetting her tear striken face. She looked around her before gently picking the rose up and taking a little wiff. She smiled gently, grateful for whoever decided to leave this little perk-me-up for her. She just wished she could thank them personally.
Around the corner, Hermione could not see, not that she was paying any attention to anything but the rose now, Luna smiling and the good that was still harboring in some part of Draco Malfoy.
