Luna sat in the shadows and watched. No one paid any attention to her. She was just Looney Lovegood as far as anyone else was concerned.

But she was more than that.

Luna stared off into the distance. Her eyes seeing into the far distance. She watched as Professor Snape stared after one Hermione Granger, know it all. His eyes watched her as she entered the library, books in her arms. He watched her sit at the table that he has studied at when he was a student at Hogwarts. He watched as she spread out the books, unrolled a blank scroll and pulled a quill from her hair. His thoughts swirled. She was quite lovely. Thankfully she had grown into her hair, and had a quiet beauty about her. For what ever reason he was drawn to her and he was extremely thankful that she had agreed to return to finish her education at Hogwarts. He thought often about offering her an apprenticeship in potions.

Hermione glanced up when she felt eyes staring at her. To her surprise it was Professor Snape. He looked lost in thought and so she took the opportunity to look her fill. Her thoughts grew troubled as she thought about all the professor had done; how he had been one of the most hated men in all of Wizarding Britain, and now he was merely tolerated. She thought about how he was really a hero, she thought of the inner strength it would have taken for him to see thought to the end all that Dumbledore had planned. Tears well up in her eyes as she thought about how lonely he must be sometimes. Oh, how she would have liked to get through his defences and be his friend.

Luna watched as the potions professor and Hermione got a little bit more comfortable around each other. She watched as days passed and the two slowly became friends. She watched as feelings developed and she saw Severus and Hermione become more than just friends. She watched as they became soulmates.

Luna was disturbed from her thoughts, when someone yelled her name. She looked around and saw Hermione storming towards her. "Luna! Have you seen Ron and Harry? We've got three feet to write for Professor Snape and I can't find them anywhere!" Luna sighed, she couldn't wait until what she had just saw come to pass. This Hermione was not the strong, confident woman that she would be in the future. Luna wondered if future Hermione was really in there.

"Hello Hermione. I was just trying to remember if Flopgargles like pancakes or waffles more. I wouldn't want to leave out the wrong one and make them angry." She watched amused as Hermione tried to come up with something kind to say. It wouldn't do for present Hermione to find out what Luna had discovered was in store for future Hermione - a love like the one Severus and Hermione had was special and rare, Luna had a responsibility to help it blossom.
