So first Katawa Shoujo fanfiction. I apologise for any inconsistencies and I hope you enjoy it. Reviews would be appreciated and no offence is intended.
Rin guessed that somewhere deep down inside her that it was stupid, that it would never work. The girl paused in her painting in order to look around for the paint she needed and a small frown crossed her features when she was unable to see it.
"I need the colour of a babies first laugh. I know it was here," her normally monotone voice took on a slightly worried tone before she shrugged and hopped down from the chair she was standing on to move to the back of her room and glanced at the rows and rows of paint cans that rested against the wall, almost completely obliterating the window that overlooked her mural. Her eyes soon rested on the particular shade of pale creamy yellow that she was looking for and bit into the handle in order to carry it back across the room, humming quietly as she did so. She could hear the panicked shriek of Emi in the next room as the pig tailed girl shot awake after yet another nightmare. Ren shook slightly as a breeze travelled through the room, reminding her of the task she had set herself, the task which she needed to complete. Raising her head, a clearer look came into her eye and she flicked open the paint lid with her feet and took a hold of the paintbrush one more time as the quote that she had been told before she came to the school flashed through her mind: If you could draw something and it could come to life what would you draw?
Before she came here and met everyone she didn't know
what that could mean. What would she draw and then one night, when she was awoken by Emi's desperate sobs, the armless girl knew. Every night she would draw the same picture, praying that this time it would come true. And every night she would fall asleep, with it still on the easel and in the morning she would hide it in her cupboard only with all the others, all painted on every sort of paper she could find, with every medium, every colour imaginable before Emi appeared with a grin on her face that couldn't quite mask the sadness hidden in her eyes. Rin put down her paintbrush and looked at the picture before shrugging and walking over to her bed before she flopped down onto it and slipping into sleep.
A ray of moonlight fell through the window and landed on the easel, illuminating the seven figures that were drawn on the canvas. A boy with messy dark brown hair and a regular school uniform with the perfect black outline of a heart drawn on his chest; next to him stood a young small girl in running clothes with her hair pulled into pigtails, drawn in the moment of jumping up and down on two perfectly formed legs; next to her hair stood a girl with short red hair and paint splattered onto her arms from her hands which she had dipped into the paint cans at her feet; a tall young woman stood gracefully beside them, her clear blue eyes gazing intently out of the drawing with her arm wrapped around a purple haired girl with her hair swept back from her face and a delighted look on her unscarred face; a young women with dark blue hair stood next to them, captured in the act of singing along to a song on her iPod her hand wrapped around a pink haired girls hand who was smiling happily out at everyone, one hand waving at the viewer.
Rin knew that this was an impossible wish but it was not everyone being whole, being 'normal' again or for the first time that she wished so hard for. She wanted all of them to be happy and that was her impossible wish.
