"According to my eraser, and my eraser is always right, the United States of America is three and a half erasers across, meaning that it is twenty-one hundred miles."
Sakura sweatdropped.
"How do you figure that?"
"See, I brought up a map, and the map of the new world had a scale. I used my eraser to find out how many miles across America was, and that's what I came up with. Smart, huh?"
"Where'd your ruler go?"
Tenten fell over with a thump.
"I lost it?"
"Honestly, Tenten, you're hopeless."
STRIKE ONE!
Just then, Ino piped up, flicking her hair over her shoulder.
"Yeah, Sakura's right. You, with your massive desk, computer and three cups full of pencils, pens, erasers and rulers, have somehow managed to lose all of them. That's pathetic."
STRIKE TWO!
Hinata leaned forward from her seat beside Ino and put her hands up in Tenten's defence.
"I-I'm sure there was s-someone in the w-world who needed T-Tenten's rulers much more th-than she did."
SAVED!
Sakura ran her fingers through her hair.
"Yeah, but Hinata. It would only cost someone, like, a dollar, to go down to the local store and buy one. Just admit it. Tenten's great at losing her stationary."
SHUT DOWN!
Tenten leaned against her desk and sighed. Ino pulled her phone out of her bag and checked herself out in the reflective surface.
"Plus, I sincerely doubt that any homeless person or someone of that description would want to go into Tenten's messy room and steal her rulers."
Tenten groaned, but Ino continued.
"No. Actually, it might be possible that Tenten just threw her rulers all over the place in search of her USB, and all her rulers are lying in between the desk and wall."
GAME OVER! SORRY, NO MORE LIVES LEFT.
Suddenly, a ruler slid into view. Tenten's eyes followed the ruler to the fingers. Then to the hand. Then up the arm and to the owner.
"Here. Try not to lose this one."
Tenten reached out and gripped the ruler, pulling it slowly out of his grasp. She looked up at him to see him resolutely looking in the other direction.
"Uh... thank you, Neji."
He pulled his arm back and picked up his pen just as the teacher entered the room. Tenten surreptitiously watched him throughout the whole lesson, jumping when the bell rang. She stayed in her seat until the room was empty, staring at the ruler.
CONGRATULATIONS. ONE LIFE RESTORED. USE IT WISELY.
The moral of this story? Don't lose all your rulers. They are quite useful for measuring countries and ending up with inaccurate answers. And for all of those starting a new school year, make sure you have all your stationary on your first school day. Thank you.
