Author note: I'm not exactly sure when this FF takes place – some time after COG. It's a little cheesy, but it's Clary/Jace and it's cute anyway ;) It's most likely a one-shot.
Read and review, pretty, pretty please!
Lightning and Electricity
Lightning flashed across the dark sky outside of the window. Thunder followed closely behind it, making the window pane rattle. Clary sat in her bed, huddled up in her blankets near the headboard. She flinched very time the thunder crashed. Her room was dark; there was no electricity in the Institute.
There were four knocks on her bedroom door. Before she could say 'come in', Jace had entered her room. He backed in slowly, pushing the door with his back as he did. Clary kept quiet as he walked to her bed, carrying two candles with him.
"Power's out." He stated unnecessarily, sitting on the edge of the bed. Setting the candles down on her bedside table, he leaned back against the headboard. He looked over at Clary just as another crack of thunder shook the window. Clary jumped, and then blushed, realizing that Jace didn't know that she was scared of thunderstorms.
Jace looked at her curiously. He tried not to smirk, but soon failed. "You're scared of thunder," he guessed. Clary glared at him before turning away.
"Hey," Jace said softly, scooting close to Clary and putting an arm around her shoulders. She shook it off, but he put it right back on. She sighed, but he couldn't tell if it was out of annoyance or contentment.
"Did you come in here to laugh at me?" she asked, not looking at him.
"No," he replied, sounding genuinely surprised and offended. "I… I just thought… I don't know… that you'd want company?"
Clary was too surprised by his sudden lack of confidence to come up with a witty remark. So instead, she just looked at him.
"Do you want me to leave?" he asked, his eyes widening.
Clary blinked, confused at the offer. "No, you can stay." She bit her lip. Jace's smoldering eyes distracted her from another crack of lightning; she barely flinched. He smirked.
"Thanks." He looked away from her, out the window. The sky was dark for a moment, free of lightning. At the next clap of thunder, Clary cuddled closer against Jace. He didn't say anything, but put his other arm in front of her. She clasped his hand in both of hers. He lazily threaded his free hand through her hair.
"It's beautiful, really," he murmured suddenly. Clary looked at him curiously, and he nodded toward the window. "The lightning is." He smiled down at her; a genuine smile with real, loving emotion in it. "Almost as beautiful as you are."
Clary, despite the butterflies that that statement brought to her stomach, giggled. "That was really sappy, Jace."
He shrugged. "I don't know what's gotten into me."
Clary smiled, turning to face him. "I don't know either, but I kind of like it." She blushed slightly as he pulled her onto his lap.
"Do you?" he asked softly, staring into her green eyes. She nodded. "Really?" Clary just nodded again as Jace leaned forward. She leaned, too, and soon their lips met.
Jace slowly fell back onto the bed, pulling Clary down with him. The kiss soon turned passionate. Clary's legs slipped between Jace's as his hands started to roam her body. Her arms on each side of Jace's shoulders held her up in the perfect position to kiss Jace. His hands pushed up her shirt slightly, exposing the skin of her lower stomach and the small of her back. His fingers splayed on the skin, sending tingles of electricity through her body.
Jace slowly stopped the kiss. Clary opened her eyes to find him looking at her. He lifted his head to place a kiss on her lips. Thunder cracked, but Clary didn't even flinch. She didn't mind the lightning now. Jace's touch had created enough electricity in her body to rival one hundred lightning storms.
